The restaurant has seen significant improvements in both food and service under new management and ownership. The staff members were friendly and attentive. They managed to reconnect with Joe's former chef, who taught them all the classic recipes once again. While the unusual sweet salsa in squeeze bottles remains on each table, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a very fresh tomato salsa alongside my tortilla chi... View all feedback.
What Sallie Torphy doesn't like about Acapulco Joe's Mexican Foods:
Chicken Fiesta was good, but in no case delicious. Not a big fan of sweet salsa, definitely did not know what to do with the watery pepper sauce. The guy who answered the phone could use a few customer service trainings as well as the hostess. The lady who brought out the food, however, was a very excellent guest service. View all feedback.
Good as always. I can remember the first time I went to Acapulco Joe's (probably 40 yrs ago). It was for lunch in the small corner building which used to be across the street--the line was already out the door at 11:30 am. Maybe once since that first visit until our latest (this evening) have we been disappointed. Food and service were great as always--their chili rellenos are the best! Indy is lucky to have a tradition like Acapulco Joe's!
Taco's B G. When you go here stick with the taco's,they have the best tasting taco meat I have ever tasted.I have asked if I could buy a container of the meat only, and the people working there, had no clue what I was asking for. They wanted me to point to it on the menu. The biscuits and gravy are great also, and I agree with alot of the others, the rest of the menu is very suspect.
Indy History With Original Flavor. Think you can't get real authentic Mexican cuisine in Indy? You're thinking wrong. Acapulco Joe's is as close as it gets to south of the border--near by, for a decent price, and hefty portions. If you have a hankering for thick and creamy cheese and chili sauce enchilada toppings then go for the Los Tres Amigos dish. 1/4 of it and you'll be full from thick flavor, the right amount of meat, and perfectly warm corn tortillas. (Dish is one beef enchilada, one soft taco, one hard taco). It's an old restaurant; a slight fixer-upper, so use the bathrooms before going. Otherwise you don't have a lock for the door.
It's yummy! The restaurant is kinda a hole in the wall but the food is great. Yummy chips, salsa and tamales.
Those of you who give Acapulco Joe's a negative review need your tastebuds tuned-up! This eatery is truly an Indianapolis institution, Joe (may he rest in peace) introduced Tex-Mex to Indy. So those who went to Joe's for Mexican food were either disappointed or pleasantly surprised because of the Tex-Mex food that's 2nd to none!
