Drive Inn - Independence
Drive Inn
Description
This restaurant offers a diverse menu with standout items like the banana shake and cheeseburger, both receiving praise for their quality. While the friendly service is consistently highlighted, diners suggest avoiding the roast beef poboy due to its unappetizing taste. The atmosphere can feel uninviting, especially for those seeking a sit-down meal, yet the efficiency of takeout service shines. Prices have risen, but many still find the offerings reasonably priced. Overall, for a quick meal and excellent customer service, this spot remains a solid choice—just be cautious with specific dishes.

Everyone is always friendly, food is delicious, and love that it’s close to home
The prices have increased, with a high cost of three dollars for an ice cone. I can buy a pint of ice cream for five or seven dollars sometimes. They don't always have tomatoes or other toppings for the hamburger, and sometimes it's served hot while other times it's cold depending on who is cooking. The service is for takeout, and it is meant for lunch. The average price per person is $10-20. The food deserves a rating of 2, while the service and atmosphere receive a 4. I would recommend trying the cheeseburger.
I would strongly advise against ordering the roast beef poboy at this restaurant. I spent over $12 on the sandwich, which was promptly prepared in about 5 minutes - a clear red flag. The taste was unpleasant, resembling plastic more than real roast beef. I cannot recommend this dish at all. However, the other menu options may be better. The service was for takeout, and I had this for lunch.
I love some fried chicken livers. They're the best around. Always fresh cooked. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
