I went here for lunch after my first day of classes at UMD. I will definitely be returning. Their lunch special was very affordable at a price of 10 dollars. Their vegetarian combo (which is vegan also) included a huge portion of injera with a variety of beautiful and tasty Ethiopian stews. So much flavor, variety, and food for only 10 dollars. This is a good spot for a college student looking to grab something cheap... View all feedback.
This place is a hidden gem and I?m glad my parents told me about it. Everything from the sambusas to the doro wat to the mesir was simply amazing. There is plenty of food to go around and everything is freshly made!! I definitely will return and can?t wait to do so.
This restaurant offers a great combination of delicious food at affordable prices, with excellent service. Be sure to try the Sambusas appetizer - it's delicious!
This restaurant is a tasty place to dine, and I savored every bite. The servings are generous, ensuring leftovers. I ordered the Veggie combo, which included everything shown in the picture. The only small problem we encountered was a delay during the shift change, which left us waiting for a while. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the College Park/Route One area.
Shagga offers consistently great food!! why drive all the way into DC and pay for parking when Shagga is right in your local neighborhood!!
I was set to go here with a SC friend and treat her to a belated birthday lunch. After TWO weeks of planning this back and forth through email/text she forgot and was at Renn Fair (which had multiple dates by the way. I was suppose to treat for her birthday. Now that's def being on hold/postponed. So, I went by myself. The décor is beautiful! Lots of authentic Ethiopian works and a few customers came while I was also there. A cute Asian guy and a White couple, so it brings a pretty diverse customer base! The food is plentiful and I took home leftovers. I got the Yebeg Alicha and Potato Alicha (side. It came with 2 extra Injera! The only things I'd change would be 1 going with someone who wants to go or have fun alone, 2 the music is a mood killer and sappy sad music on repeat, and 3 the mango OJ is bottled and I thought it was house made. Go alone or with a friend, who can go too! Authentic Ethiopian music would have set this restaurant apart. Please alert customers you have bottled drinks. (My hopes were kinda let down more . Parking is okay, wish it was flatter/bigger but at least it's free. It's gonna be my spot for Ethiopian food now, whether alone or with company!
