Hippo Café - Hutto

I had the chicken fried steak and two sides on 9/7/2023 12:00. With two other people with me. I've been to this place once before and the chicken fried steak was outstandingly delicious. Well there I was bragging how good the chicken fried steak was to my two friends. Well yesterday was Bad. The chicken fried steaks were chewy and not tender, very under cooked , had NO flavor what so ever. We merely had to put tobacco sauce on it for flavor, not even wanting the tobacco. I couldn't even finish that chicken fried steak. I think I eat only 1/2 of it. The person who cooked those chicken fried steaks does not take pride in his or her cooking. I was so embarrassed. I would never recommend this place to anyone Sorry.?

Very fun place with extraordinary food. So glad that I made this stop. My waitress Rachel is very pregnant and super good. She made wonderful suggestions and was just a very positive happy soul. But the food! I had a vegetarian omelet, I am not a vegetarian but a lady sitting across from me had it , and it looked good so I tried it. It did not disappoint! The hashbrowns were crispy on the out side and I ordered a half order of the heavenly French Toast. The French Toast was the best French Toast that I have ever had! Highly recommend!

Reviews are either 1 star or 5 star at this restaurant. Not many scratch kitchens to choose from and this one is great!I highly recommend giving them a try.We had their chicken fried steak and eggs as well as their kids plate of pancakes and bacon. The CFS was huge and on point. My son Loves their pancakes

It was an absolute treat to be taken care of by the amazing staff at Hippo Cafe. We are delighted to make them part of our regular routine. If you haven’t tried them, it’s a must and you won’t be disappointed. The food is delicious and the desserts are, as our son says, “Yum, tasty!”Food: 5/5

Got the rainbow trout, salmon, and chocolate eruption. Trout was very flavorful. Salmon was also pretty good, sweet potato fries okay but soggy, and the veggies were tasteless and soggy.Chocolate eruption cake was very sweet and good!
