My partner and I had a lovely date night at a restaurant on Forest Road in Hurstville. This particular restaurant specializes in BBQ fish dishes, but they also offer other options on their menu. We originally ordered the barramundi, but our waitress mistakenly brought us a different menu item. The prawns were apparently sold out, we went there for an early dinner, so if the prawns are sold out at 6pm, I think someone just forgot to collect them from the fish shop.We questioned the "per oyster" price...$6.80 each. We were told they were giant sized. Wrong. They were standard size, somewhere between a Sydney rock and small pacific...this puts them at $80+ per dozen. Joke, avoid. On the plus side, the beans and pork mince was delicious, as were the Dan Dan noodles. My husband ordered the dumplings, but they lost the order. The service is hopeless, the most popular item appears to be a large tray with a whole fish and optional extras hot pot style. I am confused about this place, it appears suited to students but what student can afford $6.80 for one oyster. Oh well, just another Sydney bad Chinese restaurant.
Date Night and another restaurant to try in Forest Road, Hurstville. This restaurant specialises in BBQ Fish dishes but they do have other things on the menu.We ordered the Barramundi, Plain BBQ Fish but were given a different menu item as the waitress made a mistake. We got the Barramundi, Homemade Sauce with Noodle instead. We ate the meal we were given and it was very nice.We also ordered Soy Sauce Tofu which was delicious.Overall, the meal was nice and the staff offered good service. We might return to try what we originally wanted to order when the weather gets a bit colder. Would be a great place for a nice winter meal.
I believe in China, it's a common practice to select a fish of your choice and then choose additional toppings or side dishes to accompany the fish.
The shrimp were apparently sold out when we went for an early dinner. If they are sold out at 6 pm, it seems like someone forgot to pick them up from the fishing business. We inquired about the price of the oysters, which were $6.80 each. We were informed they were large, but they turned out to be standard size, somewhere between a Sydney rock and a small Pacific. This makes them $80 per dozen, a joke to avoid. On a positive note, the buzzing pork and mint were delicious, as well as the dan noodles. However, the dumplings my companion ordered were lost. The service is hopeless, and it seems like the most popular item is a large tablet with a whole fish and optional hot pot extras. I am confused about this place; it appears to cater to students, but what student can afford $6.80 for one oyster? Overall, just another disappointing Chinese restaurant in Sydney.
My partner and I had a lovely date night at a restaurant on Forest Road in Hurstville. This particular restaurant specializes in BBQ fish dishes, but they also offer other options on their menu. We originally ordered the barramundi, but our waitress mistakenly brought us a different menu item. Nevertheless, we ended up enjoying the barramundi with homemade sauce and noodles that was served to us. The meal was delicious, and we also ordered a side of soy sauce tofu which was equally tasty. The staff provided good service and overall, it was a beautiful dining experience. We look forward to returning when the weather gets colder to try the BBQ fish dishes we initially wanted to order. It would be the perfect spot for a cozy winter meal.
