We enjoyed our first meal in houndstooth on Saturday night. the food and the service were impeccable! the best part of the night was to meet dayn!
We enjoyed the experience, but a former cooking student with a degree n ca a thing killed me: the black pfeffer souffle was made wrong. the souffle had begun to flourish, but not done in the middle. I ended up with a mass of hot under boiled dough, which tasted like over spiced pfeffer sauce. I finally noticed that my cup was bigger and wider than that of my wife, her was done. I think they underestimated the differences in cooking time. I would not normally mention it, but on this level, eating should be seamless and close to perfect.
Simply a fantastic meal. Wonderful service. Food was delicious. First course was incredible and every subsequent course was even better.
My dinner experience was delightful. The ambiance was soothing, the food was delicious, and the wine pairing was on point. The staff was welcoming and provided excellent service. However, I was taken aback by the high cost of the meal, as it was the most expensive I have ever paid for. I would have preferred to choose the percentage of tip I wanted to leave, as it was already included in the bill along with additional taxes, making the total almost $100 more than I had anticipated.
We were graciously welcomed at the front door of the Inn by Andrew who was also our waiter for the evening. He showed us to our table and began dinner service. Each course came out at an easy pace, we never felt rushed or that things were lagging behind either. The 5 course dinner with wine is just enough to be filling and interesting without feeling stuffed at the end. The salmon ceviche with pickled cucumbers was a favorite. Chef came out to serve the 4th/main course at the end (roast beef) and we had a nice conversation with him about the Inn and his inspiration behind the business there. One constructive comment to make: the dining room was over air conditioned, a sweater was necessary all night. We later peeked into Chef's modest but very tidy commercial kitchen to surprisingly find 2 wing backed chairs against a bay window in the back where guests can observe him cooking. The Inn itself is very compact like a personal home and has a welcoming feel to it. The decor is classic and elegant without being stuffy or dated. A large living room with comfy furniture is available for reading and relaxing past the sleeping rooms. Next visit will be overnight. A very personal and friendly experience for our 24th wedding anniversary. Will be back.
