It seems like I spent more time at Mel's than with my family last weekend. On Saturday, I enjoyed two dozen beautiful blue crabs. The prices were reasonable, and the sizes were impressive. Then on Sunday, I returned to Mel's for soft-shell crabs. Oh my goodness! The size was great, and the price was just right. When I cooked those crabs, rich with mustard, they turned out perfectly. This stop just isn 't what it use to be. Weak daily specials and a hodgepodge of number 1s med, and small when paying for all #1 males, so check your bag before leaving or you will he disappointed when you get home. What they call super jumbos barely competes with standard jumbos at other crab houses. Blatant false advertising. I hope they get it in gear before the end of the season, but I 'm doubtful. I've been going here for 8 years. The drive straight up Pennsylvania Ave is well worth it if you don't mind cooking your own crabs. Heavy delicious crabs and great prices!Food: 5/5

Their live crabs are consistently delicious and reasonably priced. Food: 5/5
