The Vietnamese food here is about 70% authentic, neither great nor terrible. I visited during the lunch rush and spent around 40 minutes there. It seemed like one guy was handling everything, while the lady boss was preoccupied with her laptop. What really bothered me was that the tables weren’t cleaned between customers!

The portions are generous! I forgot to take a picture of my pho with brisket, but it was delicious. The broth could have used a bit more depth of flavor, but overall, I was satisfied with it. The Banh Mi was fantastic; the BBQ pork was tender and coated in a delightful caramelized sauce. The pickled vegetables still had a nice crunch. The only thing I felt was missing was a little mayo.

Yesterday, I decided to try a new dining option, specifically a Vietnamese restaurant, as I was craving some vermicelli. Since there aren’t many Vietnamese places in the area, I thought it was worth a shot. I ordered the BBQ pork vermicelli bowl, but the experience was underwhelming. The flavor was just mediocre; the meat was dry and lacked tenderness. The noodles were fine, but the egg roll tasted like it was past its prime. Normally, I'm not a picky eater, but I would rate the meal a disappointing 3 out of 10. To make matters worse, both my boyfriend and I ended up with severe food poisoning after our meal. I suspect that the lettuce wasn’t washed properly, which seemed to be the case. I won’t be going back to this restaurant and would recommend trying Pho Saigon or another place in Bellaire instead.

When it comes to pho, you either nail it or miss the mark completely. The key to great pho lies in its bone broth, along with onion and ginger, and this restaurant excels in that regard. You place your order and pay at the counter. However, if you choose to pay by credit card, they prompt you to decide on a tip amount before you even receive your food, which I find a bit off-putting. Unfortunately, it's a common practice in this area. I opted for the combination pho, which only comes in one size that is roughly equivalent to a medium or large bowl. It featured more brisket than I anticipated, and it was absolutely delicious. On the downside, they were a bit stingy with the bean sprouts and dandelion greens. Overall, this spot is a solid choice, and you won't leave feeling disappointed.

The pho here is quite disappointing. Unfortunately, there are limited decent dining options around the Med Center. Jimmy Wok used to be a favorite, but it has closed since the owner retired. Now, I'm left searching through a lot of subpar Vietnamese food, and I haven’t found anything that deserves a 5-star rating yet. If anyone has recommendations for good pho near the Med Center, please let me know!
