The pasta wasn't... read more As a pasta restaurant, the menu is limited and the food is mediocre. I ordered shrimp crudo and the pappardelle, both of which were just okay. The pasta wasn't the best I've ever had, and the blue lighting in the bar made the food look unappetizing. I give them 3 stars primarily because of the service I received. I visited on a Saturday evening and sat at the bar, where the host and server were friendly. I asked for a recommendation, and Pablo made me a mocktail called Portland's Autumn, which was delicious, tasting like a sparkling blackberry drink. For dessert, I requested ice cream and was given a scoop of vanilla ice cream with Nutella and caramel drizzle on top, which was tasty and enjoyable. I also appreciated their private parking lot and the stylishly designed bathrooms.

The atmosphere for the night was amazing, and we really enjoyed the unique experience of eating while blindfolded. We tried the meat option, which included posole and steak, as well as dessert. It was a different and exciting experience to share with my wife. The service was excellent, and the hostess was very attentive.

I had my birthday dinner here because I can always count on the restaurant to deliver the best flavors and they were so accommodating lwith my group size. Mastrantos is probably in the top three best restaurants in Houston! You will not be disappointed.
