Despite a mixed bag of reviews, many rave about the generous portions and delicious dishes such as the egg rolls and lemon chicken. With fresh food served piping hot, friendly staff, and unique offerings like shrimp dumplings and lemon chicken, China Garden stands out for its quality and service. The Mongolian beef is a highlight, but some were disappointed with the sweet gravy. For a taste of China in Houston's Downtown area, complete with large, authentic egg rolls, China Garden comes highly recommended.
Really good classic American Chinese. Handmaid egg rolls that are worth the trip. Don't miss the sweet and sour pig, his treasure. Excellent staff.
Hostess was very friendly and inviting. Fresh tea was prepared and all dishes were fresh and delicious. Restaurant was clean and well lit. Not too crowded and food was quick to come out after ordering.
I had shrimp dumplings. Oh my gosh these were the best shrimp dumplings ever. With a side of hot chili oil and fresh garlic! Wash it down with unsweet tea with some lemon. Followed by green pepper steak which was absolutely delicious when eaten with fried rice. No dessert because I was already full.
Friendly service with restaurant and homestyle menu points. Despite the proximity to the convention center, it was not excessively busy, so we had a nice chat with our waiter. Everything was delicious. Worth a visit.
Saw articles in the Houston Chronicle that they were the best Chinese foods in the city, I agree, but it was pretty good. The egg rolls were very good, sweet and sour pork was good, but I do not recommend the Shrimp Egg Fu Young, it was very bland. The miraculous soup was very good, hot and sour soup was good. The seat was exceptionally comfortable.
