Nestled in a charming locale, this family-run restaurant offers a blend of culinary delights and a welcoming atmosphere. Patrons rave about the exceptional drinks, particularly Dominic's expertly crafted martinis, and the generous portion sizes. While the appetizers, such as the eggplant fries and Parmesan cod, receive high praise, some main courses have fallen short, lacking in flavor and presentation. Despite a few service hiccups and inconsistencies with entrées, the attentive and knowledgeable staff contribute to an enjoyable dining experience. With a focus on homemade dishes and an enticing dessert menu, this gem is worth a visit for a cozy meal or drinks at the bar.

Was Anonym at Romul's a mag?
The parmesan cod was the best I've ever had, paired with fantastic locally grown spinach and a delicious cheesy risotto. We tried the lasagna for the first time, and we've visited frequently since. It was especially rich with olives—so tasty! If you're down here, definitely ask 'Romul' for a little recommendation! View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Romul's:
Put our name down for a table. 45 minute wait, ok no big deal. Asked to sit at the 2 open seats at the bar and hostess berated us telling us there was a wait in front. When I asked about the empty seats she just said we couldn 't sit there . No idea what the issue was but definitely not a friendly atmosphere. View all feedback.

The drinks here are exceptional! Dominic, the owner, takes great care of them at the bar. He makes an incredible martini, and every time he pours one, the glass is perfectly filled with ice. The portion sizes are more than generous! The small bar area, with about six stools, is usually filled with locals unwinding after a long day. The atmosphere is lively and friendly. This is a family-run establishment, and it's clear that everyone is dedicated to ensuring their customers have a fantastic experience. Bella, the owner's granddaughter and a server, radiates positivity and excitement as she shares her family's culinary offerings. We really enjoyed the appetizers, particularly the eggplant fries, which were wonderfully baked and fried slices of eggplant dusted with Parmesan. They were delicious. However, my veal parmigiana was disappointing. The piece of veal was extremely thin and small, completely overshadowed by an excessive amount of mozzarella. It was served over spaghetti, which was overcooked and topped with a tomato sauce that was overly sweet, reminiscent of ketchup. Regrettably, my friend's dish was also lackluster. The freshly caught salmon was overcooked and dry, and the roasted potatoes were lukewarm. The sautéed zucchini was, however, the highlight of the plate. Despite the letdowns with the main dishes, we would definitely return to enjoy cocktails at the bar and have an appetizer and salad.
What a little gem this place is! We were greeted at the door by the owner, Lilly, and quickly seated at a large table with a gorgeous view. The staff's customer service was exceptional, even on a busy Friday night. Dominic was our server, and he impressively knew a lot about the wines and had a great understanding of the menu! We took his recommendations and shared the Parmesan-crusted catfish and risotto, as well as the excellent eggplant appetizer. Everything was delicious, and the dessert was amazing. Dominic also shared a little story about the local pears, which made us crave the pear pudding. However, they had huckleberry cheesecake, which took the top prize for me. The ambiance, food, and staff were all fantastic. The bartender even stopped by to welcome us. We will definitely be back!
We popped into Hood River after a late lunch at a nearby winery and were craving dessert and drinks. Finding nice dessert in Hood River around 5pm on a Saturday proved difficult, but then we walked by this place, saw there was a totally empty bar with barstools and many empty tables, so decided to stop in. When we told the hostess we were wanting dessert we were told “Full service only.” We weren’t even sure what that meant, so we just left, rather stunned. We could have easily spent $50+ bucks on drinks and dessert, sat at the empty bar and been out in an hour; they could have impressed us with good food, good drinks and excellent hospitality, and we would have come back again for dinner, but we weren’t given the opportunity to be impressed and leave happy customers. It was, well, a really strange approach to doing business (or not doing business). I’d leave a zero star review if that was possible, since we weren’t afforded the opportunity to eat.
