I was really disappointed with the service. A group of us came for a meal and we all felt rushed from the beginning. Fantastic food, wonderful ambience, great service. Possibly the best venison I've ever had, and a really generous portion. The house red was very good and went perfectly with the meal. Would have liked to see something a bit more interesting on the desserts list but still a wonderful evening in a great venue.
The Holt is literally my favourite place on earth. The food is out of this world, the drinks are a plenty and the staff are incredibly accommodating. I had my 40th birthday party at The Holt (30 people), the service was seamless and we were very well looked after. Highly recommended.
First time visiting The Holt with family this week and it did not disappoint! Hidden away at the bottom of town, this is a hidden gem that looks small on the outside but is actually a lovely and spacious place for a meal. The bar downstairs has a good range of beer, cider, wine and other drinks with a few spots to sit down and enjoy a drink with friends, with lots of interesting personality and decor. Upstairs the restaurant is a rustic yet stylish spot with lovely artwork on the walls and a great selection of food on offer (a small selection for vegans but delicious! . Food isn't necessarily the cheapest but as a small, family run business I'd rather pay a little more for the quality. The staff were all welcoming and smiling, despite the business just days before Christmas. A really wonderful experience and I can't wait to come back!
I had the steak and I must say probably the best steak ever. Really good atmosphere and fantastic service.
