This bustling restaurant is very popular with locals. Typically noisy and crowded. It can be hard to find a table, and solo diners will often have to share with others. There were many dishes to choose from, including Japanese and Cantonese style food. I really enjoyed the fresh hand-rolled sushi, the fried dumplings were too oily though. I was given complimentary tea and pudding with my meal, which was nice. Go earl... View all feedback.
What Mariano Gatti doesn't like about Gaia Veggie Shop Causeway Bay:
The owner of this chain of restaurants is very kind, but unfortunately lacks an understanding of veganism. The menu may list some dishes as vegan, but this seems to be more of a coincidence than intentional. Be wary of their accuracy in listing egg and dairy content in dishes. Just because a dish is not labeled with an egg symbol does not guarantee it is egg-free, as they may use ingredients like mock eggs. Additiona... View all feedback.
Environs: traditional, busy, noisy eating: lunch was always inexpensive. eating is in a big part and comes with a great suppe. service: So-so. we had to wait, although the restaurant was empty. the tables were near and we were sprinkled with suppe when the waitress two bowls suppe to the table next to us, but fell and spilled everything. fortunately, we were not scaled. price: low
Visited this place several times and it is always busy in the rule. reasonable prices. they have eat half price between 3-5pm, and it is also reduced, I think between 5-7pm. they offer a good lunch. the employees do not have much geduld, given the high traffic volume and speak limited English. egg-containing products are marked on a la carte menu, but no products that contain milk products (so they need to check what is vegan). the lunch menu is only in Chinese and has no marker when I asked, was said most of the dishes are not vegan (dairy in sauces that they cannot remove, many noodles with egg). I've tried it: shredded burdock appetiser (good) sweet roll from Japanese menu (very good! has mango, avocado and some crispy inside). veggie roasted dumplings (good but outer piece was quite thick and inside everything green would have preferred to mix it) cold tofu dishes in delicious sauce with seaweed pieces (big) tofu in a suppe with vegetables (not so good, suppe lacked taste) pad Thai style noodles (ok) roasted rice with lunch I liked the suppe and tee. high air conditioning. updated by previous review on 2021-06-09
I can't say it was bad, but overall I wouldn't recommend
Large menu marked with non-vegan elements. the peeing pancakes were fantastic. the baked aubergine with chop meat was extremely salty and oily, and not very beautiful. the pot-adhesive noodles were not real pot sticks, but were deep fried and not so much tasted. service was good and eat quickly.
Limited choices for solo diner as the menu consists mostly of Chinese dishes with big portion. I ordered a Japanese curry rice (HKD79) and pay HKD 99 including the Chinese tea and bean sprouts appetiser (HKD 20). Cannot pay by card for bill below HKD 100. On a side note, an Indian family came and left either because they aren’t served or the food not suitable.
