We visited for a long weekend and enjoyed this place so much that we ended up eating here twice. The service was quick and friendly, and the food was delicious, featuring fresh ingredients and a wide-ranging menu. On our first day, we had breakfast, which included the Monte Cristo, biscuits and gravy, and a scramble—everything was fantastic. However, when we saw someone with the Southwestern chicken burrito, we instantly felt a serious case of FOMO. So naturally, we returned for round two. You have to try the burrito; it was absolutely divine! Our child ordered the grilled cheese with ham and devoured it so quickly, I’m not even sure he chewed it!
Another hidden gem! The food was fantastic. I tried the BYOB burger with grilled onions and an egg, and it was absolutely delicious. The potato salad was also very tasty. My wife had the beef dip with added sprouts, and she thought it was really great. If you're in Homer, definitely stop by for a bite! You can choose to dine in or order takeout. The restaurant was spotless inside, which speaks well of the staff. Thank you to the employees for providing such a pleasant dining experience—after all, the last thing you want while traveling is a bad meal!
We've been to River Cafe several times, and each visit has been enjoyable. The drive-thru service is quite convenient, and the staff is consistently friendly and welcoming. The food is tasty! While I've never left feeling disappointed, I haven't been completely wowed either. Nonetheless, I highly recommend it as a solid lunch choice, especially compared to many other places in Homer. The all-day breakfast is definitely a great bonus too!
I thought my bagel was quite good, but my husband's sausage and gravy was disappointing. It had very little meat and the flavor was more smoky than sausage-like, which was strange and not enjoyable. The complimentary coffee was also very watery. Considering that customers have to bus their own tables, I expected the service to be faster, but we ended up waiting about 15 minutes for our food. The restaurant has only about eight small tables inside, in addition to a nice patio that was empty during our visit, so I'm not sure why it took so long for such simple dishes. I might give this place another chance because they offer some unique items that I've never seen before, but my husband definitely won't want to return after his experience. Overall, it was a mixed bag.
