What User doesn't like about The Vintage Teacup & Craft Shop:
We decided to stop at a restaurant on our way to Townsville. Upon entering, we noticed there was a gaming group in the cafe. We found a table and waited for someone to take our order, but no one came. Eventually, my wife had to approach the counter where we found a lady who seemed preoccupied with sticky notes and never acknowledged our presence. After a few minutes of being ignored, we decided to leave. The staff se... View all feedback.
Dropped in here at 10am for a quick coffee and cake we thought on our way home, and found only one person managing the store on her own, which was just not practical during Easter break with many travellers passing through. Only wanting coffee and cake, but although when we ordered we were told the milk was already frothing for our coffee, that coffee was promptly given to another couple and then the other couple's breakfast was made completely before our coffee was even started. We thought that our coffee would be a quick concern and would be done on the side of the other customer's breakfast. So instead of our 15 min stop, it was a 50 min stop which was very frustrating with quite a distance still to travel. The craft looked interesting and if you are looking for craft and coffee, possibly a good place to stop, Service was friendly, just felt misled as to just how long our simple coffee and cake order would be. Coffee was ok although choice of cake was not huge. Beside the comfort stop, so well positioned for the traveller.
We called in on our way to Townsville. There was a play group on, and we made our way past the group and into the café. There were about three other couples sat there and lots of free spaces. So we sat down and looked at the menu, we wanted some lunch and coffee. Noone came near so my wife went to the counter. Behind the counter was a stern looking lady busy messing with some post stick notes. Whilst only a few feet apart she never once looked up, no-one acknowledged that we were there and not one person paid any attention to us. I watched this with interest and just thought it was odd. After a few minutes, I kid you not, a few minutes this scenario had not changed and the rude post stick lady had still not looked up, not once. So you can guess that we got up and left. Walking back past the playgroup, again no-one bothered to speak or anything. Please leave this place alone, they are rude!!!
Great coffee & friendly service. A lovely spot to stop for a break - cool, clean & interesting gifts & jewellery if you're looking for a holiday memento.
This recently opened cafe is located in the main street of Home Hill next to the Comfort Stop. Opening only a couple of months ago I look forward to seeing the growth of this gem. Went with a friend and my mum we were first met with an assortment of homemade gifts - from blankets, teddybears, cards, dolls etc. I was impressed that the items I saw were all made from people in the local area - and all reasonably priced. Ended up sitting down and having a medium coffee and choosing a biscuit from the cabinet. We were told that there was limited choice of items due to the baker being sick. There was an interesting stuffed pumpkin in the cabinet which looked amazing but we had come mid morning for coffee. The coffee was brought in mis-matching cups and sauces which just added to the vintage feel of the cafe. Even the spoons were all different which I thought was different and cool. After coffee I walked around the store and bought a cute handmade baby's blanket and soap for a friend. Even had a chat to the owner Billie - she is lovely and very friendly. This establishment is great new addition to the town - be sure to visit, enjoy a coffee and have a browse through the wonderful selection of gifts.
We arrived at 10 o'clock for a quick coffee and cake on our way home, but were disappointed to find only one person managing the busy restaurant, making service slow and inefficient. Despite ordering a simple coffee and cake, our milk was already foamed for our coffee and then given to another couple. The breakfast of the other couple was even made before our coffee was served. What we thought would be a quick stop turned into a frustrating 50-minute wait, significantly delaying our travel plans. The decor was interesting and could appeal to those looking for crafts and coffee, but the limited cake selection was a downside. The service was friendly but overwhelmed, leaving us feeling ignored. Overall, not the best experience, but the restaurant's convenient location makes it a suitable spot for travelers in need of a quick break.
