What Susan Anderton dislikes about White Eagle Pub:
Poor quality food! The battered fish gave me food poisoning at 2am. Just 4 days ago someone else left a 1 star review saying the same thing. This is so bad and indicates poor quality food standards in the kitchen, lack of oversight. My partners burger had low quality soggy, not completely cooked fries, a low quality acidic slaw, and questionable burger meat quality. These are not high quality 100% beef, and for £19 i... Having a few days in Anglesey, which we love, info in cottage recommend that the White Eagle was really good to dine. So I went in to see if it was dog friendly, which it was in the snug. Having looked at the menu chose our meals, which were absolutely lovely. No room left to try the desserts!!

We had a few hours to burn before our ferry at nearby Holyhead so we found the White Eagle and popped in for dinner.

The White Eagle pub in Roscolyn is said to be the regular drinking whole of Prince William and Kate Middleton, part time residents of the Isle of Anglesey.

The only pub within walking distance of the seaside hamlet of Rhoscolyn, on the island of Anglesey, off the north-west coast of Wales. In the summer it is the hub of the place, with everyone going down for a pint, some food and to enjoy the lovely balmy evenings. It shut for complete refurbishment a year ago, for about 9 months and going to Rhoscolyn really wasn't the same! The beer on tap is decent and the wine list is varied. The food has improved tremendously with the new chef and it's amazing that you can be in the middle of nowhere, eating top-notch cuisine at such decent prices. You can't book a table, just turn up, but be prepared to wait, especially Saturday nights in the summer. Loads of parking. Unless you live or are staying in one of the few nearby houses/holiday homes, you would probably have to drive there, but taxi's will take you there from Four Mile Bridge or Valley. A taxi from Holyhead would be pricey. Dog-friendly in the beer garden/terrace. The New Years Eve party is legendary and tickets sell out almost immediately. If you're visiting Anglesey, go to Rhoscolyn, spend the day on the beach, swimming/surfing/wind-surfing, or walking on the headland and enjoying the amazing views, then go to the White Eagle for a pint and some good food. Pretty much the perfect day.

With a few hours to spare before our ferry at nearby Holyhead, we decided to try the White Eagle for dinner. This charming inn is nestled in a picturesque village. The bar and restaurant feature beautiful decor, and the staff is exceptionally welcoming. They seated us in a cozy side room adjacent to one of the bars, right next to a warm fireplace. We ordered a variety of dishes, including a burger and fish and chips, and everything was superb. We also enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine. Based on my quick exploration of the area, there don't seem to be many great dining options, but if you're about to catch a ferry or just arriving, I highly recommend the White Eagle for a meal.

The White Eagle pub in Roscolyn is said to be the regular drinking whole of Prince William and Kate Middleton, part time residents of the Isle of Anglesey. Being one accustomed to mixing with royalty, we thought it only right that we book in for dinner! A 45 minute drive across the width of the Island brought us to the beautiful and tiny village of Roscolyn. There's not much here, and you wonder if you are ever going to find the pub as you drive down lanes continually reducing in width. When we did finally stumble upon it, the pub itself is surprisingly big. There seems to be two main areas, depending whether you turn left or right when you enter. We were seated on a table by the window, which probably would have provided delightful views had it been daylight and the weather not so atrocious. The restaurant is quite spacious and actually lacks a bit of the cosiness that you would normally expect from a country pub. The decor is modern though, and quite pleasing to the eye. The menu isn't ginormous, but it features some interesting dishes specialising in local produce where possible. They also have a range of specials for the day. We started with some focaccia with rosemary salt and olives which was a nice appetiser. For starter, I went for the scallops which were served on a cauliflower puree, and garnished with slices of raw pepper. The scallops were cooked perfectly and were complimented by the puree, however, the choice of raw peppers seemed a strange accompaniment and didn't really work as a flavour combination. The Brazilian went for rabbit terrine which was a hearty dish, full of flavour. For main course, the boyf went for another special; the ham, egg and chips. Again it was a ginormous portion and put a smile on his face. By contrast, my dish of wild mushroom and pumpkin ravioli was pretty small, and although very tasty, left me pinching the boy's chips to quell my hunger! It seemed strange that my two courses were more like restaurant dishes, and his were like pub dishes it was like we were eating in two different places! For dessert I went for the pear and honeycomb cheesecake which was tasty and I can't quite recall what the boyf had, but I think it was pretty good. The wait staff here were all young, but very friendly and helpful. They also enjoyed a good banter with us after we accidentally set fire to the menu with the candle!! The food was good here, it just didn't necessarily work as a menu. I would be back though, if not just for a second chance at royalty spotting!

The service here is consistently exceptional, but Pete really takes it to the next level to ensure your dining experience is unforgettable. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced. Plus, the view is stunning! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Went here with 8 friends after doing the 3 Peaks Challenge, last being Snowdon, just down the road and staying at a friends on Anglesey. Nice warm welcome, good service, good food. No sign of Royals though!

Excellent A very rare thing to have a Saturday night off, so desired to venture out. Having visited the white eagle many times over the years. I’m not one for writing reviews as many people use them as a negative thing or a way to lie about experiences. Anyway arrived at the white eagle lovely and warm and was welcomed by the GM Claire, shown to the table by the fire in the snug, lovely and warm if I’m honest was too hot had to go to bathroom and remove a layer of clothing, Claire did offer to move but was settled so carried on the fire did die down thank god. We where served by a young lad called Oli, extremely polite and knowledgable took our orders and I did hear talking to the table next to us a credit to Claire and the team for someone of his young age to be so on it. Food arrived well well presented tasty demonised the lot

Super place, first visit, loved the fact that we could take the dog. The food was nice but very restrictive hopeless for one of our friends who is allergic to fish, spicy food and cheese!! She ended up having veg and chips. What is it these days with eateries everything has to have chilli, spice, miso …..We can only think it’s to hide the fact that chefs are no longer classically or well trained Chuck some chilli in and it hides a thousand mistakes!!!!
