Reviews - Sweets N' Java
Reviews summary
A charming, spotless café that feels like a small‑town gem, serving excellent coffee, inventive lattes and a tempting array of pastries and sandwiches. Regulars praise the brioche sandwiches, quiche and welcoming atmosphere with comfy indoor seating and a couple outdoor tables. Experiences vary: many guests commend friendly, attentive baristas, but service can be inconsistent and slow at peak times, and a few breakfast items drew criticism for poor execution. Still, the quality drinks, baked goods and relaxed vibe keep locals coming back.

First time here (for work), will return. Excellent coffee! Had the Wachusett sandwich and carrot cake. Both were very good. As far as the sandwich, it was served on a brioche roll. Lot of roll, not a lot of filling, but tasty. Went to the counter twice, first time got a bit of an attitude when ordering, second time the staff was super sweet. If you're in the area, even if you're not, worth stopping in! View all feedback.
What Cyndyth G dislikes about Sweets N' Java:
People were nice, but just zero sense of urgency with preparing orders. Several staff were kind of wandering around while a lunchtime line formed. Waited longer than expected for a single sandwich. The shop was decorated very nicely, however. Sandwich was just ok. View all feedback.

The restaurant offers an amazing combination of vibrant city energy and a cozy small-town feel! Since I recently moved to the area, I was pleasantly surprised by the exceptional food and the warm friendliness of the staff. I really love the artistic mugs, the relaxed atmosphere, the delicious mocha lattes, and their distinctive pastries and dishes. On my first visit, I had a fresh and incredibly tasty breakfast sandwich. Most recently, I tried the Davis Hill sandwich, which features turkey, Gouda, and onion jam—it was absolutely delightful! I highly recommend giving the mocha latte a try!
I'm still unsure about this place. I really wanted to love it because it's so charming. During my first visit, I asked if they had Golden Milk, and the staff looked at me as if I were speaking another language. I brushed it off and ordered a regular coffee instead. On my second visit with my boyfriend, we walked in to find five people behind the counter, but only one customer was being helped. There was no greeting or any acknowledgment—absolutely nothing. After waiting for five minutes, we decided to leave and ended up going to Dunkin'. It's disappointing because we genuinely want to support local businesses.

Terrific small town coffee shop with an awesome selection on fresh baked pastries. Staff is wonderful always attentive and friendly. I typically order an iced latte and a breakfast sandwich the brioche buns are fantastic, same with all of their cheeses. My fiancé swears by their quiche as well. If you drink iced coffee, get the coffee cubes!!!!!
This coffee shop in the heart of Holden, MA is a real treasure! Forget about the big corporate coffee chains like Dunkin' and Starbucks—if you're nearby, this place is definitely worth a visit. Every coffee I've tried is crafted with great care and features friendly, personable service. They offer a delightful selection of pastries and sandwiches that change frequently and have a homemade feel, along with a diverse coffee menu. You won't be disappointed! Thank you for standing out and remaining unique in today's world of uniform and bland options.
I paid $6.90 after tax for a microwaved egg and cheese on a croissant—without any meat. It was easily the worst egg I've ever had on a breakfast sandwich. The texture was like jelly, and it was completely lacking in flavor. Even McDonald’s doesn’t microwave their eggs!
Rich and robust coffee paired with indulgent, generous desserts! The staff is friendly and well-informed, and the atmosphere is cozy and creatively inviting.
I'm still on the fence about this place. I really wanted to enjoy it because it's quite charming. During my first visit, I inquired about Golden Milk, and the staff member looked at me as if I were out of my mind. I brushed it off and opted for a regular coffee instead. The second time I came, I brought my boyfriend along, and we found five employees behind the counter but only one customer being served. There was no greeting, no "hello," nothing at all. After waiting for five minutes without any acknowledgment, we chose to leave and ended up going to Dunkin'. It's a shame because we would prefer to support local businesses.
