we were so happy that we were driving randomly at this place on our trip in island. as other reviews mentioned, there are not many other restaurants in the environment. after a long day we were thrilled to come over this cozy restaurant that had clearly labeled vegan options. the staff was very friendly and accommodating. the menu is seasonal so it varies. we had the tomato soup, healed Indian kicherbsen and mangomou... What User doesn't like about Jon Riki:
it is located in a guest house. it is a restaurant with few vegan options (clearly marked): some appetizers, 1 main dish (falafel) and 1 dessert (pannacota). I ordered the falafel, it was huuuge and served over a piece of bread, like a pizza. I couldn't finish it, and this is the reason why I didn't order the pannacota: I was full! View all feedback.
We loved this place absolutely! first we were not sure whether we were at the right place, as it is located directly on the road on a small farm. the owners were super friendly and we immediately felt welcome. the interieur was beautifully decorated and felt really secret. there were two suppenings of the day to choose (lamb and sweet suppe,) both super tasty and they could help themselves as much as they want. the fresh bread was also incredible. the place is also a brewery and we tried a few of their beer. Although the opening hours say 18 to 20 hours, it is as long as they arrive 20 hours ago. overall we can only recommend here. it felt like a truly Icelandic experience!
The environment is super nice, musical instruments and money from all over the world on the wall (no big non, no disturbing stealing! basilikum petersilie, which grows inside, a brewery and the evening sun was blown through the windows, but we were a little surprised that we pay ~3500kr for a lamb and a vegetarian evening (all-you-can-e) it seems to serve so expensive
Suppe was amazing, with crust fresh brot and beautifully in sight. very unique beer before place brewed, traditional and refreshing.
Not to know what to expect when they were in what someone seemed at the farm. I was blown away with this upscale, modern, rustic building. the environment that looked at the gletscher was spectacular. the love for the detail of the building inside and outside was amazing. then it came to eat. this is the best meal I had in island. that should be a bucket list that I don't know if jon riki is a real person or just a name of the restaurant, but who is responsible deserves a handshake.
Outstanding restaurant with a great vibe and amazing homemade soup bread and dessert!
