we were so happy that we were driving randomly at this place on our trip in island. as other reviews mentioned, there are not many other restaurants in the environment. after a long day we were thrilled to come over this cozy restaurant that had clearly labeled vegan options. the staff was very friendly and accommodating. the menu is seasonal so it varies. we had the tomato soup, healed Indian kicherbsen and mangomou... What User doesn't like about Jon Riki:
it is located in a guest house. it is a restaurant with few vegan options (clearly marked): some appetizers, 1 main dish (falafel) and 1 dessert (pannacota). I ordered the falafel, it was huuuge and served over a piece of bread, like a pizza. I couldn't finish it, and this is the reason why I didn't order the pannacota: I was full! View all feedback.
Cosy and friendly restaurant with a unusual touch of music and farmhouse. Great home brewed stout. Lovely soups and home-baked bread. The couple who runs the place are friendly, always ready to help or chat. Lovely place with an outstanding view over the glaciers and mountains
We recently spent two weeks in Iceland seeing all the beautiful sights and tasting a variety of Icelandic dishes. The absolute best soup and bread we had on our trip was at Jon Riki. The lamb soup and fish soup were both very tasty and full of meat/fish. In my opinion, if you are wanting soup, this is the best!
Enjoyed the home cooked lamb stew, one of two choices, the other being a vegetable stew. Hearty healthy and Icelandic!
We had made a reservation at this restaurant as we were staying in the area. They were expecting us and had a table set aside. The place is cozy and quirky with interesting musical instruments set up in the corner. Staff was friendly and laid back. There aren't a lot of options on the menu we all had the shepherds pie and enjoyed it very much. My husband also had a beer that was brewed there. He also liked it. Recommend for a home cooked meal in a homey environment.
I choose this restaurant because it was the closest to my hotel. That means 10 min driving :D The place is nice. Prices are expensive like you expect in iceland. There arent much of the menu but enough to choose from. I have fish stew and wife have shepherds pie. we also have dessert and chocolate tart and mouuse were even better together.
