My only minor complaint i... read more I had one of the rare five-star dining experiences at this restaurant. While it's not exactly inexpensive, it was absolutely worth it. My only minor complaint is that I wanted to order my main course, but the waitress took quite a while to come back to me. When I eventually prompted her, she responded with a bit of attitude. On a positive note, the shrimp scampi was the best I've had in years, and the Brussels sprout appetizer was both huge and delicious. Overall, it was a really positive experience!

I ordered the café Bolognese,... read more I visited the restaurant for an early Easter dinner and, although we didn’t have a reservation, the staff was very accommodating. I ordered the café Bolognese, and my only complaint was that I didn’t have room for dessert! The food was superb, and the service was excellent. I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area!

Now, I love the other side of it but I am super critical of the places I go.With that, this is my first review on line..I had an Amazing dinner tonight at the Hingham location.Started with a Cosmo and rustic bread. Both fantastic! The cosmo put me right in the mood for a Friday night, if you know what I mean.. ; )Then ordered the sticky ribs and a glass of Valpolicella. Wine was alright but the ribs were to Die For!!Next up. I ordered the Cod and my friend ordered the the noodles.Hers was sweet and delish but mine was... Fantastic!!Perfect portion of slightly breaded cod over fingerling potatoes, heir covert and carrots, sitting in a lemon beurre blanc that you could drink.Finished with 2 espresso martini's and the coconut cake to take home.Yes I was buzzed at this point but boy oh boy.. That was the most amazing cake I have EVER had!It had a side of Raspberry and semi sweet glace' that I drizzled on top and I was in heaven.. My husband ate it with me at home and he was sober as a judge. He said the same. OUTSTANDING!!All I can say it ..Make that resi because it is SOOOO worth it!!BTW The service was fantastic as well. There when you wanted them, not when you you didn't.Perfect! 10 out of 10!!!

As regular customers, we particularly enjoyed the Shrimp Scampi, which was rated a 3.8 for its light sauce and excellent flavor. The French Onion Soup received a perfect 4.0 score, and the Caesar salad was rated a 3.8. Our friend Jordan also had a positive dining experience.

However, I had an incredible experience at the Hingham location recently. I started off with a delicious Cosmopolitan and rustic bread, both of which were fantastic. The Cosmo really set the tone for a great Friday night. The sticky ribs were absolutely to die for, and paired perfectly with a glass of Valpolicella. For my main dish, I had the Cod, which was cooked to perfection and served over fingerling potatoes, heirloom carrots, and a delicious lemon beurre blanc sauce. My friend ordered the noodles, which were sweet and delightful. We ended the night with espresso martinis and the coconut cake, which was hands down the best cake I have ever tasted. The raspberry and semi-sweet glaze on top was the perfect finishing touch. Even my husband, who was sober, agreed that it was outstanding. The service was fantastic as well - attentive but not overbearing. I highly recommend making a reservation at this restaurant. Overall, a perfect 10 out of 10 experience!

Just because we may not be regular customers does not mean we should be treated any less respectfully. I will think twice before returning. I would have preferred to share this feedback directly, but there is no option to do so on the website. Additionally, offering me a glass of wine did not make up for the poor service. It is worth noting that one of my sons is a respected concierge in Boston with expertise in hospitality, and we were all very disappointed with our experience.

We ordered the tenderloins and scallops, both of which were delicious. We made sure to leave room for dessert, which did not disappoint. I would recommend this restaurant for a date or small group, as it may be too small for a large party of 8 or more.

But when a friend gave us a GC in exchange for some work, we decided to use it on our anniversary. Good decision. Square Cafe can be loud, and it was when we arrived, but shortly thereafter things quieted down and we could hear each other, no problem. I had the filet, not normally my first choice due to a typical lack of flavor, but because it came with a blue-cheese butter and our waitress recommended it, I gave it a go. Not only was it one of the best tenderloins I've ever had, it was up there with the best steaks I've ever had. Truly swoon-worthy. I was sad when it was gone. My husband had the Bolognese which he said was quite good. He made the mistake of tasting my filet though, and commented that mine was better. Service was attentive and fun (thank you Kate). I must say, I've never had a server give me her card at the end of the night. But if asking for a server by name is the new trend, then I'd happily ask for Kate.

We ordered beet salad (which is usually great) and entrees. The entrees came with our any salad first served. The entrees were very good as expected. We have been to Square Cafe several times and look forward to it but this time it was run like a start up confused restaurant. Perhaps a victim of its own success. We will not return for a while.
