Contribute FeedbackThe Gate in Chorleywood offers a varied dining experience that swings between delightful and disappointing. Patrons appreciate the friendly staff and modern ambiance, often praising the well-cooked dishes and competitive prices. However, criticisms emerge regarding inconsistency, with some meals arriving lukewarm or resembling reheated fare. Outdoor seating comes with its challenges, like pesky wasps, while service can occasionally falter during bustling times. Overall, The Gate presents a casual setting for a family lunch or a festive gathering, but diners seeking culinary excellence may leave wanting more from the menu.
Looking for a new pub for our Christmas meal, we are eight friends of senior age, I booked at The Gate. The Christmas menu was fairly priced at £33.95 with well-balanced choice. Portions were generous and Turkey excellent quality. The vegetarian roasted Celeriac steak was really nice. We had a comfortable table and were well looked after by friendly waitresses fully attending to our needs on a very busy day for them. All our friends want me to book The Gate again.
Super Friday lunch was full to the rafters in the restaurant area but we had bagged a table in the bar area, right by the fire and next to the lovely tree. It made a nice change but no table service. We both had the ribeye and enjoyed it thoroughly. I approve of the swap from onion fritters to sautéed shallots and mushrooms as a side with the steaks.
Excellent food with outstanding service. We were a table of 7. Great attention provided by the staff.
The food was very tasty, service was very fast and waiters were very friendly. I would definitely come again
Super visit! We stopped by in a very busy Wednesday lunch time, but the service and food were great! Thank you to the team, will definitely be back!
