You have to walk through a little bookstore to find this hidden gem. I asked after vegan curries and found out they all were vegan, at least that night. Amazing flavours, espcially the dahl was superb (not meh and tasteless mush as most of them) and so were everything else. They served six curries in total with red rice and papadum. I’m not a huge fan of lady fingers anonut didn’t wow me this time either. People wrot... View all feedback.

this place is super cool. it is just a family-run restaurant outside. they prepare everything and bring it to the table. No meat served here at all. suitable for vegan. no menu as they are rice, popadom, two Jackfruit currens, pumpkin curry, auberginen, chili potato with tweezers and dahl bring. pity that it is not on the beach, so no visibility, but the family are very welcoming and eating was brilliant. my meat eat... You may need to book a table in advance as they turn people away, also closed early at 8 a.m. All Curries were vegan in small dishes to share.
Probably the most beautiful rice and curry I had in Sri Lanka after two months, and I found this place the day before my departure!
We cannot recommend Bookworm Library enough. You get no menu there, you sit down and immediately there is a wide selection of vegan options from traditional foods on your table. The owner is also very nice and does not hesitate to get you more of everything and also offers you a beautiful lemon tea. If you can, there quite early in the evening, otherwise the food could be ready. Updated by previous review on 2022-04-06
My favourite rice and curry of the trip in Sri Lanka. Beautiful food and generous portions. They provided 6 or 7 different curries including pumpkin, beetroot, banana flower. It was so good! You will probably need to book ahead.
We arrived at opening and were reassured no milk or egg, we were served whole rice, curries and a coconut chutney. no popadums . Very tasty, easy on the chillies. Halfway thru, the owner asked if we'd like some prawns ?! . Possibly just a friendly offer, as we didn't see any prawns, but at some point a whole cooked fish ?! emerged from the kitchen to a neighboring table, possibly a regular or a friend. Water and tea were added to the reasonable bill. Just saying, the kitchen isn't strictly vegetarian. Those allergic to seafood beware.
