Nice location. Cozy inside. Friendly staff. Nice menu options. Wide variety of seafood. Fish dishes from Florida (Triple Tail, Cobia) were frozen, and tasteless. This was a disappointment. I should have known to go with the local caught Rainbow trout. Excellent salad and desert. View all feedback.
We are 3 seasoned travelers spending the summer in Highlands. We have been to most restaurants here. As with all others, make a reservation or you don't get in. At Lakeside we were greeted as friends by a staff that made us all feel at home. The service was meticulous and timely. The drinks were well made and the wine list very good. Our entrees included Rainbow Trout which was perfectly cooked with a light breading that was very tasty. The second was the Chicken Cordon Blue Schnitzel which was very good according to my friend (not a favorite of mine). The third entree was the Salmon and again this was perfectly cooked and the light soy based sauce really pushed it over the top. All three entrees had ample portions with tasty sides. We had 2 desserts and they were also good. The atmosphere is busy but comfortable. The only down side is that it is noisy almost to the point that it is hard to hear your tablemates. Other than that, this is one of the 3 or 4 best restaurants in Highlands area and should not be missed.
Fun little restaurant with unique, local artist paintings on the walls for sale. Hostess is absolutely adorable and engaging. Wait staff were very attentive and helpful in describing dishes we were considering. Food is fresh and local when available and prepared to perfection. We shared a wild berry and goat cheese salad as waitress said it was large. It was a perfect starter along with the fresh bread and whipped fresh butter. I enjoyed the cast iron seared scallops and risotto which were seasoned so well and great complements to each other. My friend had the seafood pomodoro and raved over how delicious it was. So much seafood in it. We had made room for house made cheesecake and berry sorbet and were not disappointed. Very popular place so reservations are recommended.
We stopped in after a little road trip from clemson to highlands and found this gem on a busy weekend night. We spoke with the hostess, who was very polite, and were seated promptly. The food was delicious! believe I had the NC trout and my friend had the tomato bisque with some pasta dish. We will be back
We had dinner at Lakeside for my sister, Diane’s birthday. We had a party of 8. The food was delicious from appetizers to dessert! We tried several dishes, and each one was special and delicious! My lobster dinner tasted so fresh and the pasta with it was divine! Our server paid special attention to each of us. Our glasses were never empty and my dish was so hot. That is a difficult task with a table of 8! Thanks so much to all of the staff for making our evening such a treat! The Chef was fabulous, and creative, making each dish with every detail both beautiful and delicious. We can’t wait to go back!
What a pleasure to dine there again after all these years! Ee were made to feel welcome and the food was delicious! I had the White Snapper special and it was wonderful. We will be back next summer when we can eat out back close to the lake...
