While the pub atmosphere offers a local vibe with drinks and sports, the quality of food is inconsistent. Some diners rave about the well-prepared fish and chips and pleasant service, while others report disappointing meals, with overcooked offerings and unhelpful staff overshadowing the ambiance. Stayed at the Kyle Hotel for two nights while on a tour. Breakfast in the main dining room, reserved a style and was very good. Dinner in the pub was nice as well. We had fish and chips which were excellent, deep-fried, mushrooms, delicious salad. Shared the room with many locals who were there to watch the rugby match.
After our vehicle broke down in Kyle of Lochalsh, we found ourselves in need of a meal on a Sunday evening. We decided to try the Nor West Bar at the Kyle Hotel, as we had passed by it earlier. The atmosphere felt like a local pub where people gather for drinks, watch sports, and play pool, as well as tourists and hotel guests. We ordered drinks and looked at the menu. Although my partner enjoyed his Worthingtons beer, my chardonnay was served at room temperature, despite appearing to come from a fridge. The menu offered a variety of dishes. My partner ordered the mixed grill for £22, while I opted for the vegetarian dish, a Moroccan style cauliflower roulade for £14. The food arrived quickly, but was poorly cooked. The meat in the mixed grill was tough and unappetizing, while the roulade was dry and lacking in flavor. The only highlight was the roasted new potatoes. I left half of my meal uneaten. My partner ate his food out of hunger, as we had already paid. We would not recommend this place except for drinks. It was the worst meal we have had in a long time, and the prices did not match the poor quality of the food.
The food was great and our service was very attentive and friendly. Make sure to save room for dessert, especially the waffles!
Good restaurant where we ate at the bar fresh and tasteful fishing products At a reasonable price
Travelled half way around the world to taste Scottish salmon. Surrounded by it but when ordered, the portion served up was disappointingly small. Broccolini was cool. Waiter advised of salmon portion and said he would tell the chef but didn't bother getting back to me. £18.50 for small piece salmon and three boiled potatoes and cold broccolini. NEVER again. Be warned.
