Feedback
Nestled conveniently near the port, this restaurant presents a mixed dining experience. While the external appearance is inviting, the interior lacks charm, often experiencing damp odors. Patrons appreciate the friendly service and view, alongside standout dishes like venison stew and mac and cheese. However, many find the menu limited and prices steep for the quality, with complaints about overcooked items and a disappointing lack of local ales. Despite some inconsistencies, diners enjoy the attentive staff and overall enjoyable atmosphere, making it a solid stop for drinks and casual dining, especially after a day of exploring the scenic surroundings.
We had a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant. The venison stew and Balmoral chicken were both delicious. The staff was very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place.
I had a fabulous lunch at this restaurant. The haggis ciabatta was full of flavor and freshly cooked. The side salad was fresh with a sharp dressing. The service was great, with nothing to fault. The gentleman behind the bar was very nice. I sat outside, watching the world go by. It was a heavenly experience.
We arrived at the restaurant at different times this time, unlike our last visit before COVID. The menu was slightly smaller and some items were not available, but this was actually a good sign as it meant more people were going out again. We were a large group and had to sit in two separate groups to comply with COVID regulations, but we had been informed about this in advance via email. Throughout our week-long holiday on Skye, we encountered various interpretations of the rules, so I would recommend contacting restaurants ahead of time to avoid any confusion. The quality of the food we had was good, although the portion sizes were a bit inconsistent - for example, a child's portion of macaroni cheese was bigger than an adult portion of lasagne. The venison burger was delicious and the curry was surprisingly small but tasty for a bar meal. The staff worked hard and were attentive, considering the challenges created by COVID. An added bonus was being able to extend our visit by playing pool after our meal. Overall, it was a positive experience.
Great food and staff handled the new measures required for Lockdown. Not too expensive either and family friendly
Ate here the other week. Overall as the heading states, it was ok. Good service overall. No cask ale which is always disappointing in a pub. Salmon special was good, fish chips were poor, haddock had been completely over deep fried. The overall internal decor was poor compared to cracking job they’ve done on the externals. Lights on full brightness in the evening, lacking atmosphere with no candles, light dimming etc. I hope this business ends up doing well, but at the moment it’s just a bit average.
