The Spy Social Eatery And - High Falls

We had just arrived in town after a long drive from Virginia. It was a Friday evening and we didn't have a reservation, but they kindly accommodated the three of us, and we enjoyed a delicious meal in a cozy, and tastefully decorated home. Looking forward to returning one day. Sadly, I forgot to take photos.

What a gem to find! Not only a respite from a long weekend of hiking, but truly a culinary delight and great atmosphere to relax and ruminate. Starting off with a delicious homemade soup and tasty calamari and then moving to one of the best braised short ribs we have ever had was a treat. I had a well portioned cedar plank salmon with an absolutely delicious fennel cream sauce. Brigitte could not have been more kind and welcoming to our 3 children who enjoy good food and flavors. We then indulged with the apple crisp, the homemade cheesecake, and chocolate brownie sundae… the brownie was my favorite but it was a toss up! We will be back every time we come back to this area!

I don't typically review restaurants on this (or any other) platform, however I feel compelled to write a review about what our experience at The Spy. We have been fortunate to have dined there several times over the past few months and I just needed to state that Brigitte simply exudes warmth and hospitality. The negroni was delightful, as was the second one. The food was delicious, generously portioned, and offered a lot of variety. So grateful to have this little gem of a restaurant in our neighborhood.

I recently read a review on here about someone mentioning the owner being unpleasant, but I was truly surprised by our experience. We had a reservation for 6:30 but had to change it to a later time due to friends running late. The owner was incredibly accommodating, even on a busy Saturday night. I was impressed to see the owner on site. The food was excellent, the staff was friendly, and our group is excited for another meal at Spy. They were able to fully accommodate my dietary restrictions, which is not always the case at busy restaurants in the Hudson Valley. Our experience rated a 5 for food, service, and atmosphere. I highly recommend trying the vegan Tofu Wings. The price per person was $50-100 for dinner.

The food at this restaurant is delicious. The service and atmosphere are outstanding. I especially enjoyed the calamari appetizer and pork flat iron.
