The food at Polo Norte was generally fresh and well-prepared, but unfortunately, the service was lacking. Our group had to repeatedly repeat our orders, and our table was largely overlooked. In summary, the food lived up to expectations, but the customer service fell short.

Polo Norte is one of my favorite places to eat with my family. However, unfortunately, the quality of the food has been declining. The antojito criollo tasted like it was cooked in old oil and came with only two pieces of fried boniato. I'm sure they can do better.

I've been a regular at this restaurant for years, enjoying many family meals there. Recently, however, I made the mistake of returning with my daughter’s service dog in training. After being seated, it was clear we had the dog with us, and a waitress approached us with a rather unfriendly demeanor. She requested the identification card for the service dog. I explained that he was in training, which is why he wears a vest that indicates his status. She told me that "the owner" required the card, or she risked losing her job. I informed her that in Florida, service dogs in training have the same rights as fully trained service dogs and that he is fully potty trained and non-aggressive. Still, she insisted that it didn't matter and continued to say she needed the card because of the owner's rules. I pointed out that this requirement is illegal in Florida, but she dismissed my comments and began to tell me a story I wasn’t interested in hearing. My daughter relies on this dog for managing anxiety, and unfortunately, the exchange created a lot of stress for her. We ended up being escorted out of the restaurant, which was incredibly embarrassing. If the restaurant has such a policy—one that's not legal—they should not have seated us only to ask us to leave in such a humiliating manner. Additionally, while they seemed overly concerned about having the dog due to hygiene, I couldn’t help but notice a dead lizard under the table and crumbs scattered all over the bench. Not only was the waitress rude, but she also kept insisting that asking for paperwork was not illegal, when in fact, it is. I don’t usually take the time to write reviews, but the horrific experience we had that day truly ruined our outing. I strongly recommend that the owner train their staff on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

I went for a late dinner around 9:30 PM and found the restaurant almost empty, which is common on weekdays. The waitress was incredibly patient and courteous, showcasing a high level of professionalism. Even at that late hour, she took our order without making us feel hurried. The food was delightful, served hot and delicious, with a fresh flavor.

The skirt steak with chorizo was outstanding. The pork chunks with sautéed onions are a must-try. Although we originally came for the pizza, we ended up opting for other traditional dishes. The black beans and rice were a favorite once again.
