I had a wonderful dinner last night at the Slaley Hall Brasserie. The food was excellent; I had a steak while my wife enjoyed a schnitzel, both paired perfectly with a delightful Merlot. However, what truly made our evening special was our server, Emily. She was a charming and attentive young lady who went above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable. I'm looking forward to returning to the restaurant tomorrow n... View all feedback.
What Mizzy Watson doesn't like about Slaley Hall:
The food is decent, but it doesn't justify the price. I found breakfast to be the highlight, with a great selection and locally sourced ingredients. However, lunch and dinner at those prices are not worth it. On the other hand, the staff is exceptional. I experienced flawless service during breakfast, lunch, and dinner! The standout waiter was a young man named James, who was incredibly polite and went above and beyo... View all feedback.
Very expensive for what you get. Poor quality food and my chicken came out slightly grey. The meal cost over £60 for just two mains and two drinks and we ordered from the cheaper options on the menu. If you are staying at Slaley Hall I recommend eating elsewhere such as in Hexham or in nearby Slaley village. Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
Excellent service and the chicken was delightful the potatoes were cut in to thin strips and deep fried I really enjoyed it. Service: Dine in Price per person: £20–30
Fawlty towers lives on! White Wine came out warm. On noting to waiter told it is all kept in fridge so should be cold. Provided with an ice bucket to put the warm wine in and we had to pour the two glasses already poured into the bottle! Suspicion is they do fridge the wine for all of 20 mins and are amazed they don’t come out cold! Soup starter served cold. All were sent back for microwaving and re serving. Awful start! Main courses pretty accurate with just their confusing a chicken pie with beef pie and all quite good. Deserts cheese boards were wrong (don’t bother with the more expensive one as the staff don’t seem to know which is which plus two deserts forgotten. Multiple drinks bought out which were not what were asked for or when they got it right were bought out twice. When it all came to an end I was kind of disappointed as wanted to see what could be messed up next! If it was managed as a novelty comedy restaurant it’d great (with average to decent food when heated up! as a venue however which tries to position itself as premium (per pricing then awful! Avoid unless you’re happy to chalk the night down to a comedy experience!
Awful meal, salmon, with noodles and green beans, literally a pile of egg noodles! Dry salmon! Menu very poor, expensive, I was told the resteraunt was going to be a lovely experience, it wasn't! The staff were lovely, but food, poor!
Awful overpriced food. Many items not available, e.g. Pizza, obviously bought in ready made, £11 for a Caesar salad starter that had 3 small pieces of breaded chicken on it. Haddock had clearly been cut in half to make it go further. When challenged, I was told that was the correct size. Other tables also had tiny portions of fish. Long delays to take order then deliver food. The place is in the middle of nowhere so you have no alternative and they obviously know it. Terrible.
