He gave us the pi... read more We won a voucher for Birdcage and thought we'd try it out, and it didn't disappoint. When we went inside, we were greeted by Simon, the owner. He gave us the pick of the tables and I ordered the chicken burger and the wife ordered the duo of pies, both with thick cut chips. When the food came out, it looked wonderful, and tasted as good as it looked. The pies were also made in house by the chef and there was plenty of meat in them. (the ones she had were beef and ale and chicken and spinach) We will be coming back again, and been told they do a mean Sunday roast, so will definitely be trying that. Once again, thank you for a wonderful meal.

Was greeted with a warm welcome from the owner which was very nice, and was served 2-4-1 on the cocktails which doesn’t happen in Hessle! The food was well portioned and cooked to a very high standard (Seriously good). Menu is well varied and will suit all. The cocktails were made with fresh ingredients and were as tasteful as the food. We was not rushed in any way, and the waiters went above and beyond with service. The bill was beyond reasonable for the quality of food/drinks! All in all, extremely happy and will be going back to try the tomahawk steak very soon! Best restaurant we have been to in Hessle.

The burger was outstanding, the cocktails were really nice, but unfortunately the steak was pale on the outside, wobbly fat and gristle and just below what we expected.. the place looked fancy but needs a bit of tlc the tap was broken in toilet and spiders on the windows in ladies and toilets didn't flush properly.. shame about that because it looks like a really high end place to visit.
