Thyme - Hertsmere
Thyme
Description
Thyme at the Premier Inn Potters Bar offers a mixed dining experience. Some patrons praise the quality and value of meals, particularly the tender steak and good wine selection. Service is generally friendly, although some guests noted lapses in efficiency and food preparation, with issues like undercooked steak and limp salad. While many found the atmosphere acceptable for a budget hotel, others expressed disappointment over the food’s overall flavor and freshness. Ultimately, Thyme caters well to travelers seeking convenience, but may not impress those expecting gourmet cuisine.

I waited 20 minutes just to place a drinks order, and then another 40 minutes for the food. I had a simple steak, and the restaurant was only half full. When the steak finally arrived, it was swimming in grease, undercooked, chewy, and cold. The "spicy rice" tasted like a cheap packet version. I would have definitely preferred to go to Burger King at the nearby service station instead. I highly recommend avoiding this place!
It was a fantastic start to the day, completely satisfying! A big thank you to Karyn for your help and guidance; it was truly appreciated.
I stayed overnight with a large group of 35 for dinner at B B. The restaurant organized a two-course buffet along with drinks at a reasonable price, and everything was excellent. The service was outstanding as well.
We had a meal here on Christmas Eve whilst staying here visiting friends over the holidays. Have to say for a 'budget ' hotel our meal for 4 was very good in quality, portions and value. I went for the steak which can be hit and miss even in the best of restaurants but this one at Thyme was really very good cooked as requested (and yes the friendly waitress did ask), tender, all edible and a good size. I was very pleased. Favourite wine was listed too and at very keen price, so we won on all levels! Breakfast next morning was also more than adequate and very good value too. We 've stayed here a few nights during the holiday period over quite a few years now and whilst this Premier Inn sometimes is not quite up to scratch, even in this price bracket, the Thyme restaurant never let us down.
