Cafe Zehntscheune Herrstein

Eat at this delightful restaurant after you hke the Traumschleife Mittelalterpfad, one of more than dream loops in the region. The trail starts right in this pretty medieval town.

The little village is beautiful, and this great cafe is tucked back in an alley. The only parking near the cafe is for handicapped, otherwise you have to use the lot out on the priority road and walk in. It's about a block and a...half. The building itself appears to be an old, converted barn. They've done a great job with the decor. The food is excellent, traditional German. I had the Lieberknodel, and my wife had the rolled pork. Both were very good. This little village is a must see, and while there, don't miss this great little establishment.

Zehntscheune was a building that stored the tax that everybody had to pay in Medieval times, this building has been converted into a quaint cafe/restaurant. Good food and excellent views.

A friend of mine has been living in Germany for just over two years and went out of the way to take me to this place. The food was amazing, I would recommend getting a few plates and sharing them as the portions are huge...and the menu is so diverse you'll probably want to try more than one thing! Definitely get the stuffed dumpling, beware it's huge but so so tasty! On top of it all, the staff were so friendly.
