Ktown - Herndon
Ktown
Description
Ktown, tucked inside H Mart in Herndon, has become a focal point for Korean cuisine enthusiasts, yet recent experiences have raised concerns. Diners have reported dishes such as seafood soondubu and tangsuyuk suffering from excessive salt and soggy textures, leading to disappointment. The jaengban jjajang has also seen a decline in seafood portions and quality, with customers encountering spoiled ingredients. While some claim the food remains a great value and flavorsome, many feel that the establishment has strayed from its original quality and authenticity, prompting reconsideration for future visits. A destination once cherished now warrants caution.

My friends and I stopped by the H Mart in Herndon to buy some groceries before our weekend trip. Conveniently, Ktown is inside this H Mart and we decided to eat our lunch here. Personally, we all were pretty dissatisfied with what we ordered.SOONDUBU 11While it's cheap and affordable, I really did not enjoy this because it was way, way too salty. It probably had 2x more salt than I would have liked in my soup and practically inedible. This was a seafood soondubu which had several pieces of squid. I couldn't really taste the broth that well because the salt took up all my taste buds. I am not sure if there was an egg in here, but oh well. Overall, would highly not recommend if it's actually this salty.TANGSUYUK 18My friends and I got this to share and the batter was a pale tan color, which meant it wasn't fried correctly. The batter was on the soggy side and it was pretty disappointing. The sweet and sour sauce didn't help it much. Not at all crispy or that flavorful, meh.My friends got the tonkatsu and spicy pork rice which they thought was very mid. I don't think I will be returning in the future, sorry.
This used to be our go to spot in Herndon for quick and great tasting Korean food in the area. However this was when the place just opened and an old grandma and grandpa ran the show in the kitchen. I think the ownership changed and so did the food quality. Everything now is super bland and extremely watered down. Even the meat dishes had this funky taste to it. If you want authentic Korean food, take my word for it and avoid this spot.
We were regulars until tonight. The portion of seafood in jaengban Jjajang we always get for my kids has gotten smaller each week. I was okay with that because I see that happening in any restaurant due to “inflation”. But today was a different story. It had this “sour” taste which you get from jjajang gone bad. No I’m dealing with two kids who have started showing symptoms of stomach bug. Never again!
I am disappointed to have to write this review as this restaurant used to be one of my favorite places to get Korean food at a good price. Today, I ordered takeout from them and discovered not just one, but two hairs in my food. After only two bites, I had to throw it away. This experience was very disappointing, and I will not be ordering from them again. See the attached pictures of the hairs I found in the Bulgogi.
