Nestled in a converted carriage house, this charming restaurant at Stone Hill Winery offers a delightful ambiance paired with delicious food. Signature dishes like schnitzel and unique house potato salad shine, alongside tasty pretzels. However, service inconsistencies mar the experience, from long waits and rude staff to forgotten orders. While the food is celebrated, the pricing can be steep, prompting some diners to consider alternatives. Despite the mixed reviews, the rustic setting, delicious flavors, and friendly servers hold potential for an enjoyable outing. Reservations are recommended to navigate the occasional wait and ensure a smoother visit.
To make matters worse, my fries were served ice cold and it took an eternity to get fresh ones. Overall, this lunch was not worth the $100 we spent. Chelsea needs to be retrained, and the staff should learn to better manage where they seat drinking and non-drinking guests. There were no apologies or acknowledgment of our concerns, and just so you know, I decide the tip, not my husband, so you should speak to me as well!
The restaurant has a fantastic ambiance, but the customer service brings the rating down to three stars. When I first arrived, I was informed there would be a wait of an hour and a half, which was fine. However, when I returned at 2:43 for my 2:45 reservation, I was rudely told that I had to wait because it wasn't yet 2:45. This was very unprofessional, especially considering there were several open tables. Additionally, the food prices were quite steep—$20 for a salad and $16 for a burger, although the food itself was good. To be honest, it might be better to bring your own food and enjoy it at the winery instead.
The schnitzel and sides were pretty good. The side salad was just okay and the potato pancakes came with an apple chutney that looked and tasted like canned pie filling (the potato pancakes were good otherwise)
We had to wait for a table which was no problem, however there was tons of tables up front available yet they stuck us, a 2top in the back and up stairs (and I?m disabled) with several LARGE parties of drinking and drunk women. They were so loud I couldnot even hear my husband and he was sitting across the table from me!! When I tried talking to the waitress Chelsea about it,she totally disregarded me and only spoke to my husband. Very rude, and all she had to say was that she works for tips , sheonly gets 5% of the tips she makes every day and that she has to turn in the other 10% to Vintage and she only makes $5 an hourand blah blah blah. I listen to sad stories all day long, I don?t need to listen to any more when I am trying to eat and I don?twant to be ignored while I am talking to you. My fries were ice cold and it took forever to get fresh ones. Was not worth $100for lunch. Chelsea needs to be retrained, staff needs to be retrained on where to sit drinking guests vs non- drinking ones. Noapologies, nothing at all, And I?m the one who decides the tip honey, not my husband. So talk to me not him!!
While the ambiance of the restaurant is amazing, it 's customer service makes this restaurant a 3 stars. When I originally arrived to the restaurant I was told that it would be an hour and a half wait (no big deal) but when I arrived at 2:43 for my2:45 reservation, I was rudely told you have to wait! It 's not 2:45! This behavior was extremely unprofessional, especiallyseeing how there was several open tables. The price of the food was also outrageous. 20 dollars for a Salida and 16 for aburger, but was good. Honestly bring your own food and eat at the winery.
