I was looking for a dog-friendly pub/restaurant north of Leominster, convenient for my daughter and her family to break their journey back to Wiltshire. Read the reviews and decided to give the Stockton Cross a try. Delighted that we did. The starter of baked Camembert was great value and very tasty, and my daughter’s small kids loved the pate and toast they had as their main course. But the roast beef and roast chicken (both with Yorkshire pudding) that the 3 adults had were absolutely delicious, beautifully cooked, with carrots, cauliflower and broccoli perfectly al dente, and lovely gravy. Such good value. The staff (and the resident Newfoundland) were attentive and helpful. Too full for dessert but will definitely return!
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and Andy the Manager was very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area. It's also dog-friendly, which is a nice bonus.
After traveling home from our holiday, our daughter and her family were also on their way back from vacation. We decided to meet up for lunch and after a few unsuccessful attempts at other places, our daughter called The Stockton Cross at Kimbolton near Leominster. They graciously welcomed us even though it was late in the afternoon. We enjoyed a fantastic meal with attentive and professional service from the waitress and owner. The food was great and the prices were reasonable. We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning in the future.
I had been recommended the Stockton cross from a friend, it was my partner’s birthday so I decided to treat him to a birthday dinner there. I booked a table via the website, where they use open table. I made this booking at least a week and a half before the date. When we arrived we ordered drinks, where we were told by the bar staff that there was a issue with the menu and the chef would be overly to talk us through this. The chef/ manger was so rude he made it very clear that we were not wanted there. We were told that they had a function and there was no menu as they were catering for the function. I will say there was only about 15 people at this function! The chef did say that he would ‘throw’ a menu together. But his attitude was appalling. We were made to feel so unwelcome and if the situation was entirely our fault. Needless to say we finished our drink and left. I will say that the lady behind the bar was so apologetic, but what happened was not her fault at all.
Fantastic Sunday lunch! Well priced and high quality. Very friendly staff, great food and extra veg/gravy no quibbles! Also dog and child friendly, we couldn’t ask for! This place deserves to be fully booked, and I’m sure as word spreads they will be very soon so don’t miss out!
