I have been looking for a great Cuban in town. This was probably the best Cuban I have had in this area and the Yuca fries are amazing! This is my new to go place for Cubans!! View all feedback.
What Angelamarie Ortiz doesn't like about Haydee's Puerto Rican Cafe:
Not authentic Puerto Rican food. Beans too salty no flavor, steak only tastes like onion, alcapurias look like fingers meat had no flavor, sweet plantains and water were good, if they messed that up restaurant should be closed down for false advertising. That was only my food my husband's was worse. People who have commented different they really don't have any idea what great authentic Puerto Rican food tastes like. View all feedback.

A great casual dining experience. Most importantly, Haydee's Cafe has the best authentic Puerto Rican food in North Carolina which is incredibly difficult to find. The pernil(pork) is outstanding and they have all the sides you could want such as tostones, plantains, rice, and yucca fries. The only thing Haydee's lacks is taro root, but I won't hold that against them.
Great Cuban sandwich and service. Cannot wait to try more of their menu.
Authentic Puerto Rican food. Cafe style, pick what you want to eat plate. Very reasonably priced, great selection, delicious cuisine.Love the food, the experience, the staff.Hope this place stays around for a long time.
Great Puerto Rican food finally in Western North Carolina. If you like authentic homemade PR food you definitely have to try it. I had pernil (roast pork), arroz con friojoles negros (rice and black beans) and tostones (fried plaintains) which were all excellent. My wife had the pollo guisado (chicken stew) with arroz con gandules that was also excellent. Reminded her of home. And finally some good PR/Cuban coffee. The prices were great too Puerto Rican and Cuban food are not supposed to be super expensive like some other places. We will definitely be back. Just wish they were in Asheville so we could eat there more often. And just found out they are going to start making Mofongo soon!
