I have tried the oxtails and curry goat, both were delicious. I don't like the cabbage though. Weird flavor to me and undercooked. It has the crunch just like coleslaw. The employees are very pleasant. They don't treat you like you're bothering them. View all feedback.
What silvia lynch doesn't like about Chewly Delicious Jamaican:
Got there 10 minutes after 11am. The man didn’t want me there…. I almost gave up and left, but I wanted to give the food a chance. The food was great! Got the yellow rice with curry chicken and Mac and cheese, the cabbage wasn’t ready… neither the fried plantains. $15 later I said it was good but will never go back, there’s something about attitude. After reading the reviews, we still decided to give it a try! It would have been really nice if the person who worked there knew the parts of the chicken. I asked if the jerk chicken was separated between white meat and dark meat, but the person who what Bella told me he didn’t know. My husband assumed he did not know the parts of the chicken, which he did not. I told him if I could see the chicken, I would know the difference. Problem number 1: The cashier acted as if I was bothering him by asking a question.Problem number 2: The food case was covered with pictures of food. That made me think there was a reason why they didn’t want the customers to see the food prior to purchasing it! When he opened the chicken container, there were three DRY looking chicken legs and one little dry chunk of a chicken breast. I eat at Golden crust in Durham often, and I have never seen jerk chicken that looked like old baked chicken.Needless to say, we left without ordering anything. The cashier did not offer any suggestions of what to order, or take the top off of any of that food so that we could view it prior to purchasing it. That was a Wednesday 30 minute drive for me. If you want customers to purchase your food, how about number one, you employ people who know the parts of chicken, and how about you take the pictures down from the case so that customers can actually see what the food looks like.
The first time I went here the food was great, this was around the time covid hit and we couldn't eat inside the restaurants. I tried a second time and the Mac and Cheese was bland and tasted like flour with some cheese on top, disgusting! Also the oxtails were very dry. Even after this experience I went back today, SMH, the Mac and Cheese was even more disgusting and the oxtails were like they were cooked the day before. Oh by the way,, the plate was $19.50! Very disappointed, will not be going back!

Seems like its hit or miss here. Unfortunately, it was a big miss today. Mac and Cheese was not fresh. The microwave sounds coming from the kitchen indicated that. I wouldn't even mind if it tasted good, but it didn't. Jamaican patty was fine, but no better than any frozen one. Coco bread was fairly good. Cashier was friendly though.
