Bengies Jerk Spot - Hempstead

I did NOT like this place whatsoever. I'm not sure if it's because we went on a Sunday night or if it was because of the men and women who were seemingly intoxicated outside OR the cars pulling off the sidewalk with my three year old walking by but this place was disaapointing we went inside to order and they had music and the tv blaring. According to the signs, Sunday's are Senior nights and that's fine but it seemed like everyone had been drinking and it wasn't even a bar. The menu and food looked unappealing. I actually refused to order and asked my party to leave the establishment.

I thought I was treating my family and myself to a special meal.. instead I gave my mom, myself and friends severe stomach aches. The first to become ill immediately after eating the oxtails was my mother. She complained after a few fork fulls. Actually there was not much meat regarding the oxtails... mostly bones. The take out server filled the tin with an extraordinary amount of rice and peas and sloppy brown gravy. The other server told him there wasn't anymore vegetables. The scary part is the food didn't have any particular bad order.. and of course no taste but everyone who had a portion at my house started compiling of horrible pains after a few bites of the meal. I just had a heavy uneasy feeling after eating Spices Negril's horrible dinner. I felt like my experience was going to be bad when I entered the take out section. The place was incredible hot... just a small fan to ventilate. The servicer took a long time to get to me... and they all have a bad attitude. They have a back door which was opened, but this entrance isn't available to customers and that's inconvenient to most customers who park in the rear of the building. The display of the food does not look as appetizing as advertised. Everything is packed sloppy and is dripping by the time I arrived home... it was dripping greasy gravy on my floor and counter tops. The worst part is when myself and others became ill from a meal I thought would make everyone feel good.. Don't waste your time at Spices Negril restaurant and lounge. Please don't get sick like I did. I paid over $40 dollars for a large tin of this horrible food just to become sick later. Don't go to this place... it needs to close.

Food was good waitress had body odor either doesn't use toilet paper or crapped her pants the mac and cheese was great

We had relatives visiting from out of town so decided to try restaurant. We have gotten takeout from there before. We went at a quiet time so not busy at all. The food came out one dish at a time at least 10 minutes apart. We ordered 4 entrees, wings, fries and fried calamari (for picky kids). By the time my husband got his food the rest of us would’ve been done eating if we hadn’t waited. They forgot about fries (picture hungry cranky kids) and didn’t bother to tell us that they didn’t have anymore calamari (now picture hangry 9yo who has been waiting to eat forever). No apology or anything. Then there was this pesky fly that kept buzzing around. I usually don’t care about a fly but this was one persistent bug. It would not leave us alone. Besides how long has that fly been in there to be alive in Jan?! Also bathroom was disgusting. Sticky floor, dirty toilet paper etc. Needless to say I do not want to eat there again.
