However, our re... read more As regular visitors to Helsinki from the UK, my wife and I have had the pleasure of enjoying many wonderful culinary experiences over the years. However, our recent visit to Spis was truly outstanding in terms of creativity and enjoyment. Each dish was a culinary masterpiece, combining unique ingredients and flavors to create a memorable dining experience. The nine courses were expertly described by the knowledgeable employees/owners/chefs, highlighting the cooking process and ingredients used. Our meal was perfectly complemented by a selection of wines, including a superb Nebbiolo from Piedmont and an intriguing Japanese Saki. Be sure to make a reservation in advance, as this intimate venue fills up quickly. Spis is a must-visit in Helsinki, showcasing the best of modern Nordic cuisine. We can't wait to return in the Spring.

I wish... read more The food at this restaurant is beautifully presented and of high quality. I lost count of how many dishes we tried, with each one being fully explained. I wish I had recorded the descriptions as there was so much detail in each dish. It may not be a cheap experience, but the effort put in by the chefs makes the food worth the price. I opted for the small wine flight, which was generous. While the price was a bit high for me, considering the overall experience, the cost of the evening was justified. Nowadays, it's common to spend €60 per person on a meal I could make at home, but Spis is worth the extra cost. The level of skill involved is on a whole other level.
