Had a really wonderful romantic meal with incredible service and artfully presented, delicious food. I would return again. Randomly, my favorite part of the restaurant were the chairs which had slits to air out your tushy. Very thoughtful for sweaty visitors in the summer! That said, we enjoyed the tasting menu with paired wine. What a lovely treat. Demo is a classy establishment with fine food featuring earthy Nordic flavors by the season. Every part of that meal was wonderful. The highlights when we went in July 2017 were the chewy, warm, nutty bread with butter and the dessert featuring dill sorbet. Highly recommended.
We really enjoyed our experience here. Its a cozy spot with a dozen or so tables. You just choose how many courses you want (4 7) and whether or not you want wine pairings. Prices were certainly reasonable given the quality of the food and overall experience, though this is certainly not a budget meal. They were able to accommodate a request for a vegetarian menu which was impressive since we only gave them 45 minutes notice and it was the last night before they closed for the midsummer holiday. I definitely recommend doing the pairings they were thoughtfully chosen to go with the food (and yes, the vegetarian pairings were different). Coming from California, I liked getting to try a variety of European wines (which I 'm far less familiar with). I especially love the unconventional cheese course a cheese taco paired with a hard cider. Completely unexpected, creative, and delicious.
Longstanding 1 star michelin, later opening hours adjusted in the summer. 4 to 7 course choice, adding extra cheese, main course, and dessert. snack, amuse, and two breads. french scandinavian punctuated by purees and dashi, main veal with nice roasted veggies. contrast with olo
Went to Demo during a visit to Helsinki and was not disappointed. The service was excellent, and the food was truly elevated Nordic cuisine.
Went to this place before it was graced with a Michelin star, and we loved the buzz, attention to detail and quality and balance of the menu. stayed about 2.5 hours, always a good sign, and though the food had a nice local inflection, we could have been in New York given the overall quality of the food, decor and vibe. if they've kept the standards and creativity up, definitely worth a visit.
