Bodensee - Helen

If it were possible, I would give this restaurant 10 out of 5 stars! This restaurant is really a jewel in Helen, GA and a MUST DO!! The service was wonderful, our waiter Elliot gave us wonderful recommendations and made sure we had a great experience. Really everyone in this facility was fantastic. And don't even let me go to dinner! You can say there is a lot of time and effort placed in every dish. Everything we had was absolutely delicious! The owner/master chef of the restaurant was very friendly and enthusiastic about what he does. Also the music was so funny and lighthearted. Daniel played this evening and he added a little magic to the already wonderful atmosphere. All in all, this restaurant will hold a special place in our hearts and if you are in Helen you should come here!

Good food. Pretzel served with cold beer cheese, but was good. Had the German sampler for two, which was fair. Nothing to rave, but it was good. We didn't eat the two plates of beef, but the carvings and smoked pig carvings were above the rest. Service was fast and great, especially for a busy Saturday night.

Very nice server. external and internal seat. Many tables outside, covered. Eating was pretty good for this city. Sweet sausage. Beef w/ horseradish sauce was great. Friends were great. Great beer!

This is a real thing, small town, family property, authentic German restaurant with one of the best French onion soups I've ever tasted! We came with a party of 15 without announcement and the owner opened the second dining room for us instead of letting us wait. She took our drink job and turned on music. We have been supported by several other employees in addition to our server. The food was delicious! After the meal, the owner gave all the children in our party a little surprise and insisted that some of us have adults after the food toast. This was the best hospitality experience I had in many years. You make yourself a service when you visit Helen and don't eat here.

Brought the family down to Helen for Christmas lights and shopping. The first 2 store owners I asked about food recommendations said “Bodensee!”, so we had to give it a shot. When we got there the line was out the door. Good sign number 1. Despite short staffing, which has become commonplace, the staff is very efficient in moving food and customers. I had the house sampler (I think it was called. 2 sausages and smoked pork chop with potato salad and sauerkraut. The wife had goulash and the shrimp scampi. All the food was amazing! Customer service was perfect. A few ladies on staff even gave my son a toy and some candy, which made his and our night. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great place to eat!
