Zum Weissen Schwanen - Heidelberg

Whenever we visit Heidelberg we always have dinner here and have never been disappointed. the food is excellent (choice seemed to be even better than before) and the choice of beers is always good with some good local beers on tap. Staff are very friendly and happy to talk - and shared a laugh with us when we ordered the "Mixed Grill" to share ! If you want good German food then visit here.

We were meeting up with friends from the United States who wanted to eat German food in Heidelberg. In a way that's easy - there are so many choices, but which one to choose? We picked Zum Weissen Schwanen and were not disappointed. First of all the beer selection is excellent and I had a Heidelberger beer on tap that was out of this world - I'll be back for more of that. I had the Jaegerschnitzel and it was perfectly fried with a creamy mushroom sauce on top. My husband had the zwiebelschnitzel - topped with crispy fried onions. One of our friends ordered the rinderrouladen - thin steak rollups stuffed with pickle and bacon, and the other had a mixed plate of leberknoedel and assorted wursts (this dish came with homemade spaetzle). We really were delighted with the food and our waiter could not have been friendlier. The service was leisurely which suited us because we weren't in a hurry. If you're looking for good traditional German food in Heidelberg, Zum Weissen Schwanen is a good place to try.

A quiet Sunday dinner at the end of our trip. Service was excellent and the food was authentic. Started on the patio but moved inside when it started to rain.

Probably the best variety of beers available in Heidelberg. German but also beers from some other countries in bottles. Quite friendly service and reasonable prices. Zum Klosterhof bottles available.

This restaurant provides of good selection of german food. I had a pork-steak with pepper sauce and 3 small Roestis. It was good, although a bit surprisingly not such a large portion.Service was friendly, but perhaps a bit slow (by german standards, so still quite acceptable).
