Location Ambience Great Location. On The Marktplatz. In Altstadt. French Cafe vibe. Lovely window seat. Outdoor seating. Service Efficient waitress Overall I would come back in a heartbeat but only if they ban smoking indoors. The fug of cigarette smoke is ruining what should be...a perfect bar. We walked around looking for a good place to sit and have a drink and what we found was a perfect location at Max Bar. It's location, with chairs and tables under umbrellas is the ideal spot to people watch and chill out. We were...right next to the church and the Lindt Chocolate store. Our waitress, Tisch, quickly waited on us and was very attentive to our needs making sure our drinks were full. If you're unsure where you might sit and just breathe in Heidelberg, then this is the spot.
Max bar has always been one of my favorite places. In the summer you can sit outside on Markt platz and in winter you can go in where it is always packs. Cool bartenders, such a great place.
Max bar has the feeling of being a mixture of an American dipping that is mixed with a berliner cafe. it has excellent bartenders, an idiosyncratic and diverse clientele. good beer and whiskey. What else could you ask?
Max is a convincing recreation of a French bistro bar. Not a wide drink selection. Authentic zinc bar, tiny tables, French memorabilia on the walls and in the music played, and the waitstaff uses French. Smoking is permitted.
Beautiful little pub in harmony with the culture of Heidelberg. Enjoyed a fine espresso. The owner is very kind and friendly too.
