Sweet Southern Market - Heflin

Large portions. Food was very good. We each had the Catfish Plate. You could choose fried or grilled catfish,2 sides and hushpuppies.

Let me start by saying the staff was polite, and the tables were clean. There is a very limited menu. That in itself isn't bad, as long as you are good at what you do. I ordered my drink. They informed me that they didn't have straws when I asked them for one. I decided to play it safe and ordered chicken fingers, with potato salad, and mac cheese as my two sides. My food came out immediately. I mean that quite literally, no wait. The server went into the kitchen and right back to my table.I started with the sides to let the chicken fingers cooled down. I love potato salad, so I started there. It was like a mostly boiled potato with plain mayonnaise on it. Really has no flavor, no spices. So one bite was enough. On to the mac cheese. It has the appearance of being baked, but it was really some generic version of Kraft...that maybe the just keep warm in an oven. No flavor, not cheesy. I just wanted to drench it in hot sauce for flavor, but there wasn't any available.Main course, let me remind you that I have only had one bite of each side. They are cool to the touch. I assume they either make all of these in the morning and then keep them under a hot lamp all day. They were super dry and only room temperature...not a good combination.I really hate to see local businesses fail, but I can't support one that doesn't even try. Needless to say, that I won't be returning.

Wow, what a great place! Park at the Circle K or walk over from Love's, it's worth it! They make everything fresh, right there and you can tell. Large portions, good prices and yummy desserts! Need I say more? Great Mom Pop restaurant that you should try for sure! ???
