I stayed at Heptonstall whilst doing the South Pennine Cycle route. The pub looked inviting and was a busy Friday when after a long cycle I went in late for food. Helpful, friendly service and warm, cosy atmosphere. Although at first, being on my own, I felt at a loose end, I was soon made to feel at home, most particularly by the 'landlady ' (off duty) with the pink hair, and it was nice to chat to a few of the loca...
