We went here planning on doing a tasting and lunch, as it had been recommended to us by a local. Unfortunately we picked the one day the kitchen was closed...****! The tasting was good as we were the only ones there, we had plenty of attention from the staff and the view all to ourselves. Really took their time explaining all the complexities of the wines to us. Again, we were happy to get a box of our favourites wit... View all feedback.
What Björgvin Holgeirs doesn't like about Oakridge Wines Restaurant:
It is unlikely that you can get to this restaurant without a navigator, although it is beautiful there, you are not allowed to walk in the vineyards, you can taste 6 types of wine there, but frankly speaking, it is quite mediocre, tourists go there as if to Mecca, although I was not impressed. on the set menu for $ 80, they barely begged the manager to sell a second and a snack separately so that it would come out at... We were 80 of us to celebrate my 50th b'day! We had a great experience in beautiful setting. Melbourne weather was kind to us, had an hour of drinks in the sunny private area . Simone and all the staff was fabulous, food was excellent. We had trout, kangaroo and duck for the mains. All the dishes were excellent. Only draw back was vegetarian dishes, we were expecting a choice of 2 veg dishes but only one was served. Desserts were awesome. An excellent overall experience!
On a weekend trip from Adelaide we decided to have a lazy lunch in the Yarra Valley. Oakridge was chosen (through the help of trip advisor) and we were not disappointed. I chose the kangaroo entrée and I must say it is the best kangaroo I have ever eaten. The duck for main was also very nice but make sure you order a serve of the brussel sprouts, they were delicious and a must for those who claim they don't like them. As mentioned in the title the staff maketh the experience and you have a gem with Simone. The complementary wines were brilliant as one would expect with the cabernet being the stand out variety. An excellent overall experience with beautifully presented and tasty food.
We went to Oakridge for lunch on Queen's birthday. The three. Purse lunch was outstanding! We had lamb belly, kangaroo and trout as starters, roasted and braised lamb and pork as mains and some of the most beautiful desserts. All with local and native ingredients which made them very unique. The Winery Block Syrah grows right in front of the restaurant and was a fabulous match. The only downside (and this is a pet hate of mine) is that the kids menus consisted of spaghetti with tomato sauce, bangers and mash or fried chicken with chips and salad. Why not offer half portions of the main menus for little guests to tickle their tastebuds as well? As dessert they deserve better than vanilla ice cream (even if homemade) and sprinkles.Still 5 stars for the entire experience!
What a fantastic setting for such a fabulous lunch. The views are superb, the food perfect, wines fantastic. We had three courses, kangaroo entree was great, our mains consisted of the lamb and slow cooked beef, both were faultless.I am not a dessert person but the chocolate and gin orange were delicious. Will definitely return.
