Mirakuya - Hazleton
Mirakuya
Description
This Hazleton Japanese restaurant offers standout dishes—fresh sushi, yaki udon and generous hibachi portions with entertaining chefs—but experiences vary widely. Several diners praise flavorful lunch sushi and hearty hibachi, while others report alarming cleanliness issues (roaches, sticky floors), inconsistent food quality (off salmon, rubbery meats), slow, inattentive service, missing menu items and problematic parking. Expect highs and lows; strong dishes exist, but sanitation and service lapses are serious concerns.

My fiancé and I went out for a Valentine's Day dinner, and it was quite disappointing. The ambiance was dark and the restaurant was almost empty, which set the tone for what followed. The service was terribly slow; it took 45 minutes just for me to receive a drink. To make matters worse, my soup and salad arrived before my beverage. They also didn't have half of the items on the menu. When we left, the staff unashamedly asked for a tip. Overall, I was incredibly disappointed with the experience. I would rate it a 0/10 and would never recommend this place to anyone. We definitely won’t be returning.
Our reservation for peak dinner hour Friday night was unnecessary. Hostess was unwelcoming and unhelpful. The place is dark, dingy, dated, and largely empty. They offer Martinis and Sake but would not make Saketini, a two-ingredient drink. Cold sake was warm. Hot sake was warm. Hibachi dinners were very oily. Sushi was fine but served without utensils. Had to request chopsticks. Three diners traveled and spent $300 for this disappointing experience.
Roaches on the wall crawling around, the service was horrible only came by to take order and then bring to go boxes. Never got drink refills or came around because we got burnt sushi. And we were the only guests in the entire restaurant so they werent buys and i get why now. Was so sick from seeing a Roach on the wall right behind us and another one on the ceiling. And dead roaches around the corners. Servers made the excuse of bug guy just came but acted like it was no big deal there were roaches on the wall. Completely ruined all our appetite after just getting our hibachi and we didn't even take it to go since who knows where the roaches have been if they are even in the dining area. Can not believe I paid 100 to feel sick and nausea.
Wow. Not sure what happened here, but this place has gone from one of the best in Hazleton to now seemingly one of the worst. I had Hibachi steak with rice. The steak was burned heavily on one side yet undercooked, there was no sauce provided, the vegetables although cooked, were most likely wilting before being being cooked, the rice was not even mixed with half of it white half with soy and clumped together. Not a soul was in the place when we were there and now I know why. Not recommended at all.
