This place is a little tricky to get to. You have to walk to the side of the alley and go up stairs/elevator to get to the restaurant. It's a little weird but once you get into the restaurant, definitely has a high end vibe. We were greeted by a nice lady. She seated us outside as per our request since it was a nice day. My husband and I had a good experience here. We ordered some things that were from their specials such as, kanpachi kama (amberjack fish cheek), sea urchin nigiri. And other stuff from the menu such as monk fish liver, sweet shrimp nigiri (with fried heads), sweetheart roll, and lion king roll. All are small portions but with a very nice presentation. Everything had great flavor and high quality as each dish melted in your mouth! I really recommend the Kama as it was perfectly crispy, meaty and not overly seasoned. It doesn't come with rice, so I ordered that separately. It was definitely a pleasant experience and I want to have these dishes again .
Located above the movie theater. We stopped by after seeing a movie. Parked accords the street for free in garage. Cute space, rolls were tiny though.
New favorite dinner spot for sushi in the East Bay. What a gem! Right next to the movie theatre too. They have a nice bar area, spacious indoor seating, and a cute/romantic outdoor seating feel. I love Omakase and especially fresh sashimi. Their sunrise roll was a perfect appetizer. We wish they have oysters left but we did come around 8 for dinner. Next time! My partner got the volcano which was deep fried with tuna and cream cheese. Super tasty and decadent. Perfectly fried! Next time will ask for extra fish. I got the omakase and it was of course super fresh. We tried their sake and IPA session beer. Super refreshing for a hot day. We definitely be our go to!
Hinata is a relatively new establishment (took over another sushi joint) and was such a fine treat! The Santa Cruz uni was so fresh and tasty, every piece of omakase nigiri was divine, and the wagyu nigiri might possibly be one of the best things I've tasted this year. The bill wasn't pretty, but service was attentive, and their sake selection was nice.
Great service and very nice atmosphere. cheeks: 5/5 omakase: 3.5/5 (inventive and creatiw, but could bring about better fish quality. wasn't really a wow court. give them a 5-star rating due to star service. everyone was really friendly and stylish in the way they welcome and acknowledge them.
