The restaurant specializes in herbal soups and seafood delicacies, such as Fish Maw Rice, Crab Sashimi, and Steamed Buddha's Jumping Wall. Diners rave about the authentic flavors and peaceful ambiance, although some found the prices on the higher side. Attentive service adds to the overall dining experience, making it a top recommendation for those seeking quality Cantonese food in Sydney. Don't miss out on trying the delicious soups and innovative dishes at Steam King.
The "Fish Maw Rice" is a must-order every time, with generous portions of three large slices of fish maw, complemented by seasonal vegetables and a fragrant broth poured on top. The fish maw is steamed to perfection, silky smooth, and incredibly delicious when paired with the soup. The "Crab Sashimi" is also a newfound surprise! The combination of egg whites with fresh shrimp and fish meat is smooth and fresh. The portion is also quite reasonable, showing their sincerity. "Steamed Buddha's Jumping Wall" is a dish that doesn't need much description. It is flavorful and delicious! The environment of Dun Pin Wong is very peaceful, with exquisite furniture and decor that match the ambiance perfectly. The background music is mostly light and soothing, allowing one to immerse themselves and quietly enjoy the delicious food. The service is excellent! It is a place that brings peace to one's mind. Recommendation: Fish Maw Rice, Steamed Buddha's Jumping Wall.
Located conveniently near major attractions in Haymarket, Steam King offers unique and one-of-a-kind dishes that go beyond traditional Asian cuisine. While some dishes have Cantonese influences, others are more familiar. I highly recommend trying their Double Steamed Chicken Soup, which is cooked using the double steam method for a long period of time, resulting in a beautifully flavored dish. My personal favorite was the coconut-flavored version, served in a coconut shell. The Golden Prawn with salted egg yolk was also delicious, although the portion size was a bit small considering the price. However, the special and time-consuming preparation of their dishes makes it understandable.
My experience at the Steam King restaurant was absolutely amazing. I was graciously invited to a business dinner and was impressed by the variety of flavors and the use of simple ingredients. The aromas were incredible, the presentation and service were impeccable, and the lychee vinegar that I mistook for moscato was truly mind-blowing. This was my first visit but definitely not my last, as I have already booked another reservation for next week with a new group of friends. Congratulations to the establishment for providing such a wonderful dining experience.
Abdolutely amazing experience for dinner here. Major points for the level of service which was really top notch<br/ <br/ Loved the soups, very tasty especially the Buddha's delight with abalone and shark fin<br/ <br/ The housemade tofu is absolutely amazing, very smooth in texture and the sauce is amazing<br/ <br/ Almond dessert soup was great too although a bit on the sweet side. The sweet dumplibgs with it was delicious, absolutely love the sesame inside. The right amount of flour and sesame<br/ <br/ A bit on the pricier side though but expected considering what you're eating<br/ <br/ Absolutely recommend and will revisit
It appears there are some reviews that thought it was pricey, however I thought it was fair for the ingredients and time it took to prepare some of those dishes. Just because it's a Chinese restaurant doesn't mean they can only charge food court price. I'd recommend this place to anyone for an true Cantonese cuisine experience.
