Tea Pot Cafe - Havering
Tea Pot Cafe
Description
A recent examination of a local café reveals a stark contrast in customer experiences. While some diners lament inflated prices and disappointing service, others cherish the cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food offerings. Many reviews highlight issues such as long wait times, inadequate portion sizes, and a general decline in quality post-pandemic. However, amid the negative feedback, a few patrons still find joy in the café’s classic English fare and reasonably priced menu items. This ongoing dichotomy raises questions about the establishment's consistency and future in a challenging dining landscape.

I visited this restaurant with my daughter and two grandchildren. We ordered a fried egg roll, a fried egg sandwich, a bacon sandwich with chips, a sausage and onion sandwich with chips, and some drinks. The fried egg roll and egg sandwich were served promptly, but we had to wait for a long time for the rest of our order. After inquiring multiple times, we finally received the bacon sandwich with chips. However, we had to wait even longer for the sausage sandwich and chips. Our order was not large or complicated, so we found the delay to be unacceptable. Other customers who ordered after us received their complete orders before us. The staff seemed more interested in chatting than serving customers efficiently. I will not be returning to this café in the future, which is disappointing as they used to be more efficient.
Don’t order a childrens meal unless ur feeding a newborn.. prices are extortionate for the tiny portions you get! 4 potato smileys and ONE turkey dinosaur? Since when did a simple ham and cheese toastie cost like £7? A cafe I once loved that I will not be visiting again! There’s inflation and then there’s out right ridiculous.
Lovely friendly service excellent food and value for money. The place is busy but kept clean and tidy and lovely cup of tea too
Used to eat here once a week prior to pandemic. Have only been a couple of times since. Went today and we were looking forward to our snack. Firstly, all prices have increased ridiculously. Over £12 for 3 slices cheese on toast, 2 teas 1 apple pie. Waited 30 mins for the cheese on toast when it was plonked on the table the waitress looked furious when we said we'd asked for crusty, not sliced, bread. No apology. She could be seen having a go at the chap who took the order. He came told us it wasn't our fault, it was his! After another wait we were brought the replacement- smallest slices of bread possible. We will not be returning- shame. Always like to support independent businesses but we'd get better value service from one of the fixed meal chain restaurants. Can accept mistakes but not rip-off prices miserable staff where you're made to feel uncomfortable.
I adore this café, it's our go-to spot with a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. The prices are reasonable and the coffee is delicious. Their apple pie is to die for and they make a mean cheese on toast. They don't have too many people lingering around, so we always manage to find a table despite the place being busy. This speaks volumes about the quality of the café.
