Jewel of India is one of my favorite places in town when I'm looking for a tasty, inexpensive meal. They offer a variety of vegetarian curries and entrees, all of which sound delicious. On my visit I had their Navratan Curry, mild, and it was delicious! It features chickpeas, carrots, peas, potatoes and cauliflower in a tasty and slightly sweet yellow curry sauce. It comes with a generous amount of seasoned white basmati rice. They offer lunch- and dinner-size portions. I personally always order meal size as the lunch portion is a bit small for a dish that is mostly veg and is the only thing I have. However, the lunch portion can be ideal for sharing or trying out multiple dishes. My companion ordered the saag spreader with naan and he thought it was delicious. Service can be a bit slow so try to avoid peak times or order takeout/delivery.
This curry restaurant is excellent, with lots of choices for vegetarians and vegans, located conveniently in the heart of downtown.
The dinner at this restaurant was very good. I ordered the chickpea masala, which I would rate a 9 out of 10. The dish earned five stars from me and was reasonably priced. It's not located too far in Hanover, so there wasn't too much traffic getting there. I also tried the veggie samosas, which I would give a 10 out of 10. I highly recommend the naan bread with garlic on it. Just be cautious if you are vegan, as some dishes may contain dairy. It's always best to ask the staff.
