Sol y Mar Hannover

I was very disappointed that they did not have anything á la carte other than their breakfast buffet available at 11am. I had met some friends for what I thought was just coffee and maybe a waffle or lunch but instead ended up with a €16.90 buffet that at least had good coffee on the table, but was alas another example of location over quality. Upon entering, Sol y Mar looked great! A really nicely decorated high-ceiling establishment with a breakfast buffet that looked more than generous with offerings of more than six different types of vegetable dishes, salads, desserts, and even warm items like scrambled eggs and bacon that are less common to a typical German brunch. Everything looked great until I took a plate of food to our table and got down to eating: The salads were limp messes that were not fresh at all, their chicken dish in one of the heated containers was still raw, their puddings and mousse au chocolat are all from boxes so you can taste the sugary powdery artificialness, I found hair and fuzz on three of my dishes from the buffet although that doesn't actually bother me so I ate them anyway--just the sheer number of this occurrence made it noteworthy--their baked goods and cakes are all store-bought and lackluster, some even downright weird like their cakes that looked like tiramisu and cheesecake but were actually cheap stand-ins that tasted nothing like them. Other warm breakfast items I sampled like scrambled eggs, bacon, and cooked green beans were fine. I'm not sure what their after-breakfast food is like, but I'm guessing if you want to have a pasta dish, a cocktail since they look like they have a well-stocked bar, or something that's hard to screw up in a really nice ambiance central to downtown, this is the place to go. Otherwise, the breakfast buffet is nothing but a pretty facade of empty promises.

Sol y mar is located in a beautiful room in the station building. I was told it used to be the first class lounge before the war. I don´t know if that is true, but wouldn´t be surprised if it was. Food is good. There is quite a choice of vegetarian meals. There is a cheese burger, for example with fried goat chees and hash browns instead of buns. I had a large servicing of spinach dumplings. The caprese (tomate and mozzarella) for startes was also good and huge. The waitress was quite nice, sometimes a little cheeky but not too bad. She forgot my starter at first, so I had it when my colleagues had dessert. There is only Heineken and Paulander wheat beer. That´s not a lot of choice but since it´s a cocktail bar probably ok. The Rioja is a really good choice!

Неплохое место в здании центрального вокзала Ганновера, уютный интерьер и мега-вкусные коктейли. Единственный минус-невнимательные официанты, которых долго приходится ждать.

La tienda cuenta con un ambiente muy agradable de lounge. Ya que es muy céntrico. Los cócteles son siempre delicioso !!! Música agradable, bien precios, servicio amable.
